Senator Jim DeMint R/SC, is apparently unfamiliar with the history of the US as regards the Constitution. In a recent fundraising letter he writes;

"I believe the only way to take back our freedom is to return to the constitutional principles our founding fathers promised in 1776."

1776? FTW, does this moron not realize that the US Constitution wasn't written until 1787 but it didn't contain "the constitutional principles our founding fathers promised." In fact we had an entirely different system of government in the meantime!

OTOH anyone who would donate money to this idiot may or not be aware of the difference. News that we're not still under the "Articles Of Confederation" may be news to them.

He's not very bright, but how many Biden and Obama gaffs did you have to leap over to get this?

That's for another thread.

He may have been referring to the Declaration of Independance and got distracted.

This is the best you can do? He immediately corrected himself when he said it. It's not he wrote it in a fundraising letter (which might, or should have been proof read by a staffer with some education) and then mailed it out!

Please. That's a simple mistake. I think it's going way overboard to call him a "moron" because of that.

Error aside, I'm curious as to what freedoms he's referring to? The freedom to enslave Africans? The freedom to put 10 year old children to work? The freedom to imprison mixed race couples? Which freedoms?

Calm down, These gaffes are made all the time. In writing it does look worse because no one proof read. I am sure no Democrat ever made an error.

The more I see these Gotcha partisian threads to more I realize how blind all you sheep are.

Seriously is this all you Republicans and Democrats can throw at each other? Oral and clerical errors?
Just stupid.
