When you think of efficiently and effectively run states, does California that is drowning in debt come to mind? I'm going to guess a big "NO" on that one. So, how come the House of Representatives and President Obama want us to be just like California?

You know that Energy bill just passed by the House of Representatives on Friday that none of them actually read before they passed it? (Isn't that's what they said about the War in Iraq, by the way?)

Well, I hear that one of the provisions says you won't be able to sell your house until the feds come in and do an energy audit. As the house seller, you'll be penalized for things like older windows and dated appliances. In other words, the government is going to come in and tell you, you have to spend more money before you sell YOUR house. But don't worry, be happy. Think of how many new auditors the government can hire so you can have the pleasure of being gouged?

And homebuyers, you are going to have to pony up more for a new house because that bill that just passed in the House is going to mandate California’s expensive new building codes for the country. As soon as it's enacted, all new homes will have to show a 30 percent increase in energy efficiency and not long after that, an additional 50 percent increase. Who do you think is going to pay for that? You'll have your married kids living in your basement until they're 50 because they'll never afford a new house.

John Boehner on the Pelosi Obama Energy Tax - Greg Pollowitz - Planet Gore on National Review Online

And do you think renters aren't going to feel the pain? The bill stipulates that every building have a place to plug in electric hybrid vehicles. Hmmm, how many will they need for your apartment complex and who is going to pay for it in their rent? You, that's who. In the big cities, I fear the city government, and maybe even the state government if they smell a revenue opportunity, is going to gouge you guys who have cars.

Who Stands to Benefit From Cap-and-Trade? - Glenn Beck - FOXNews.com

And I have a question because I oppose "smart grid" making decisions for when I use appliances and what my home temperature has to be, as intrusive ---

If every household plugs in their electric vehicle in off-peak hours and everyone's household appliances are running during off peak hours, then doesn't "off peak" become the new peak?

The US Senators better read this hunk of garbage from the House before they move it along and put us all in the poorhouse like California just to make some political cronies/contributors rich. And the stinkin' media better do a better job of spelling out who is going to get rich from all of this crappola.

It's not JUST your electric bill and what you pay at the pump that's going up. It's not even JUST just the costs to businesses that will be passed down to you in your food and other products purchases. You are going to pay through the nose for the pleasure of being kicked in the financial butt from all angles, thanks to those folks in DC.

A smart grid delivers electricity from suppliers to consumers using digital technology to save energy, reduce cost and increase reliability and transparency. Such a modernized electricity network is being promoted by many governments as a way of addressing energy independence, global warming and emergency resilience issues.
Doesn't sound like what you describe.

Looks like we can't credit Obama with that one.

Threads like this remind me of a garbage truck going by my house in the morning: Just some background noise that means nothing to me.

Really? A lot of manufacturing companies in Germany that were making a profit are now losing money. All due to their inability to usa energy as needed. Some countries also allow you one airplane flight a year. After that they double the cost of ticket. Helps fight global warming. What a joke. And you might want to check the unemployment rate in europe.

Didn't know about the energy auditors. That doesn't surprise me.

Great Britian has health auditors. They come to your house unannuonced and inventory all of the food you have in the house. If they don't approve then they fine you. This is to try and keep people healthy and keep nationalized healthcare costs down.

Why do people even think we have an energy or healthcare crises in the U.S. to begin with? There is no evidence that people are having problems getting energy or healthcare. Why try and fix something that aint broke?

Anyway, Obama said no new taxes on people making less than 250,000 dollars a year. But he admits cap and trade will raise taxes on all households. Since he lied about that why should we trust him on anything else?

Here is a link that shows how retarded you have to be to believe in global warming.

And one of the primary reasons for the real estate crash was housing prices were artificially high due to government imposed environmental garbage.

Anyway, looks like Australia is rejecting there cap and trade legislation. They are finally waking up.

And why is China's economic growth expected to be 7% this year while the western world is expected to decline? Could it be that everyday China is easing workplace laws and regulations?

More government= poorer people
less government= richer people

That's they way it works. The U.S. is no different.

B-b-b-b-b-ut there's something special about the US. Something that makes us different and immune to this downward spiral of wealth destruction that socialism necessitates. Right?

Yep, the US is different and special...because we have immigrants coming from all over the world to contribute their time and effort in productive ventures. Any social welfare program will necessarily be poorer in quality here than in say, Scandinavia ironically because the very blessing of diversity in ideas brought on by immigration is also its curse.

If Irish immigrants never expected a handout when they came to Ellis Island, why are illegal immigrants, inbred rednecks and minorities expecting one now?

Default Fed Up!

I for one, am totally fed up. It's time for the entire House and Senate to be cleaned out. Completely.

This so-called 'Energy Bill' is the last straw, with so many provisions (outlined by the O.P.) that are so costly nobody will be able to afford any of it. This will bring our economy to a total stand still, as if it were not bad enough now.

This is tyranny. I had heard reports that calls to Washington D.C. were running 10:1 against this horrible piece of legislation. Yet our Representatives, who had not even read the bill, and with a last minute 300 page amendment attached (from the infamous Dear Mr. Waxman), also not read, voted to pass this bill anyway.

The American people are enslaved to the government, it would seem. Our children and our grandchildren, and their children and grandchildren, will be enslaved for many years to come.

Where is America?

But, we can take it back, and we must. Not only for ourselves, but for the World.

America has been a shining light to the World since it's creation. People around the globe have always looked to America for hope. Hope for their own freedom, and hope for protection. Now, what hope can we offer? None.

Obama has stolen not only our hope, but the hope of the World.

Obama, the tyrant dictator. I had heard that while constituents were calling Washington D.C. in numbers that were jambing the phones up for hours, imploring their Representatives to vote against this bad bill, Obama was also contacting Congressmen, "twisting arms" (who knows what kind of threats he was using) to get this bill passed.

This is only the beginning of the tyrannical reign of this President and this Congress. Health Care is next, though polls show that nobody wants it. It will also be jambed down our throats.

I am attending my first Tea Party next Saturday, in Mercer, PA. I have no idea what the event holds, who might be speaking, and I do not know who organized it. I saw a sign: Tea Party on the Courthouse lawn, Saturday, July 4th, 10:00 A.M., and I said to myself, "I have to go".

This is it folks. It is time for every American to stand up and be heard. Our country has been sabotaged.

California is "drowning" because of more than simply the real estate market crash. California has been way over spending for many, many years. This was inevitable. I know. I am a former San Diegan, and my wife is a San Diego native. We now live in Ohio, thank God we got out long ago.

As to your comment about "Cap and Trade" in Europe, I think you'd better check the record on that. They do not like it, and it is a failure. But yeah, go ahead and just tell people to "quit listening to Beck". Stick your head in the sand if you want. I couldn't care less what you do. But those like Glenn Beck, Rush, Hannity, Joseph Farah and many, many others, who have been informing the public about this horrible piece of legislation, probably know more about it than the Representatives in Congress that voted for it (usually the case). And it's for damn sure that they know more about it than you do.
