Homeless and starving people? Who cares? So what - that's their problem. This is America!

Well, I support the minimum wage concept, and the scheduled increase.

I think a labor payment threshold is appropriate and necessary.

I believe if you go to the Bureau of Labor Statistics website, and look at the employment statistics, you will see that past increases have not resulted in decreased overall employment levels.

Oh, that's brilliant. Fewer jobs, but those who are hired make goooood money!

Sounds like something Marie Antoinette said - shortly before the mob broke into the palace.

The next revolution's victims will be leaders who insist on socialism, not the bourgeois.

If minimum wage hurts business, I wonder how In-N-Out Burger can start all of its employees at $10/hour, when the minimum wage in California is $8/hour, and still be profitable.

What's their secret?

What is their business model? How much more profitable are they compared to other burger joints in CA?

I don't know much about their model. They are a privately-held company so I have no info on actual profits. I should have said 'appears' profitable. Anyway, they don't offer franchises. They keep their menu simple and for fast food they are highly regarded (that part is debatable some might say). I worked for In-N-Out for 2 years (87-89) when I was in high school. Back then their starting wage was $6.25/hour and minimum wage was $4.25/hour. I was constantly amazed at how gung-ho a lot of the employees were about that company. In hindsight, In-N-Out was/is a good company to work for.

I wonder if opponents of minimum wage are willing to drop their own salaries to meet the minimum level?
Or is it just contempt for others?
They seem to oppose welfare or food stamps and they also oppose paying people for work.

How's this going to play out in bizarro world?
