You do not examine legislation in the light of the benefits it will
convey if properly administered, but in the light of the wrongs it
would do and the harms it would cause if improperly administered.
— Lyndon Johnson

As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. It is in
such twilight that we all must be aware of change in the air – however
slight – lest we become victims of the darkness.
— Justice William O. Douglas

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
— Thomas Jefferson

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary
safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
— Benjamin Franklin

Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.
— Albert Einstein

"Those who suppress freedom always do so in the name of law and order." --John V. Lindsay

"The power to tax is the power to destroy. A government which lays taxes on
the people not required by urgent public necessity and sound public policy
is not a protector of liberty, but an instrument of tyranny."
--Calvin Coolidge

It's astounding how the philosophies of the two major parties have changed over the years. My father was a Yellow Dog Democrat all his life, but I seriously doubt he would give the present day democrat party any consideration in the voting booth.

The 50s and 60s democrats were a different breed of politicians. The South had historically been a democrat region for decades, and now is mostly republican. I don't believe the people changed that much, but the parties surely did.

Like I said, today's democrats are not the ones of my father's generation.

I guess these words are too much for the far left. Even though great liberal leaders spoke such wise words...

What's that supposed to mean? As for me, I was out working all day. Just got home within the hour. (Even though some of you like to think Democrats don't work.)

ETA: Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Lindsay, nor Calvin Coolidge were Democrats. I don't know about Albert Einstein, but there is evidence he beat his wife, and also palgarized her work, so he's no role model for me.

When I read something like this, it gives me hope for our country. At least there is one other person in America that is not drinking the Koolaid.

Isn't a yellow dog democrat someone who refused to vote for anyone in the Republican party because that was the one that Lincoln belonged to?

If TJ and BF weren't liberal, then what would you call them? Remember Einstein was so intelligent that he did the architecture for something that had never been and less than 10 nations have some 70 years later.

I am sorry. Even when such a diverse group as the group of men quoted were don't touch your anger with a suave of common sense, I can only regret the pain you must go to sleep with each night. I am so sad for you.
