How greedy can you be? The rich use far more infrastrucure and rely on the average middle class American to keep this country functioning. As I stated in a previous post, they can take one for the team. Don't you see the logic in having a healthier, less stressed society which will make the entire country more productive? The insurance companies are bankrupting and harming hard working average Americans with outlandish premiums and arbitrary refusals of treatment. The system is failing and finally an administration that is going to take the bull by the horns. The ridiculous Bush tax cuts for the rich were going to be rolled back next year anyway, so what is the difference? If you are in the upper 1-2% then you have the right to complain and if you do, shame on you.

I doubt anyone in here has a 7 figure salary.
How about those who will be taxed/penalized if they don't but insurance?

You all must realize that taxes on the "rich" will not pay for it all.

Quit whining already booho wahhh. Besides, people with a salary like that have dozens of tax write-offs that'll probably end up saving them half the tax dollars they'd give up under the Obama plan.
So, you feel you're entitled to another citizens income?

Is it a marginal rate? It probably is.

It's still much, much lower than the tax rates in the early 20th century. We, as a people, decide how we want our society to look and function. Most of us don't want to see orphanages, poor houses, and elderly people panhandling on the sidewalks. So we like having safety nets. And a progressive tax structure is the most moral and least harmful way to do that.

I have no problem with it.

I'll never earn that much.

It's almost as much as the death tax. It would be cheaper just to die.

(that didn't make sense).

Their estimate is 500 billion over ten years. The saving hopefully will pay the rest.

I assume someone else will be paying for your HC? One can hardly expect a different attitude from the entitlement mentality.

True universal coverage should bring down the cost to your car and house insurance, meaning more money in your pocket. No need for medical liability insurance.

With that said, I will say that I'm comfortable with a tax hike on the wealthiest Americans. Everyone in America should be able to see a doctor when they are sick.
Obviously you're not an earner.
