My Dad and Mom also made the same decision your Mother did, but it was their choice to make it, not something the government should have a say in. Communism or Socialism is not a good thing. Some of you are too young to remember the horrible things caused by these types of government. It just needs to stop and NOW.

We live in a nation where you are free to go out and make a life for yourself. Why does anyone need anything else for themselves. You are free to start any business, work as hard as you want to, help your neighbor if they are having trouble, but we don't need unChristian people telling us how to live our lives. Get rid of these bums. They are evil.
...and this is what's wrong with politics today, unchristian evil people? The opposition is no longer some one with a difference of opinion and ideas...they are evil incarnate, hate the country, unpatriotic, mentally ill, and will destroy the earth. Once we as people give value of the winner take all, anything to win, and my way or the highway philosophies we all lose. Debates stop, coexistence stops, and we are left with two propaganda spewing hate groups that work against each other because the others viewpoint is the one of the Antichrist...not because proposals would gain the most value.

If you concerned about health care rationing obviously you don't know anything about health plans. It's already being done by pretty much everyone to some degree, even in the US. How many Medicaid people get $10k a dose chemo treatments? How many 90's people get the same? In Canada if you want neurosurgery or spine surgery you have to wait at least 26 weeks for treatment, and have most drugs when they get cheaper generics.

I never said I like it, because I see what happens in other models, but fear mongering is the wrong way to debate the issue.

Does the bill say that it has to be performed every 5 years. Yes or No?

You are saying that you don't have to schedule, which is fine, just like you don't have to obey the speed limit. But either way, the requirement is there, and its obsured.

I think you may be misreading this section of the bill. It does not give the government any say in your Advance Directive. It merely says that your doctor must periodically educate you, with the laws of your state, as to what your options are.

The law does not require an AD. It requires a consultation. As I said, at the seniors group I spoke to, most everyone was eager to prevent a fiasco like what happened to their own parents. But everyone still has the right not to sign an AD, or to sign one that says everything should be done, et.

I haven't read the bill, just what Emeraldmaiden posted. As I understand it, if you are admitted to a hospital, you have to have had a consultation in the past five years, if not, you have one then. It just requires that the most recent consultation be done within the last five years. It is possible for ten, even twenty years to go between such consultations. I have a father-in-law who lived to be 97. I don't think he'd been in the hospital in the ten years before his final admission.

I'm sorry about your mom, but glad that she thought ahead as to her own wishes about her end of life treatment. It's so easy to put that off; who can imagine their own death?

My sister, also a nurse, has strong feelings about end of life issues, as well. She was heavily involved with our mother's care, and has her own AD in place.

I said years ago that if we allow babies to keep being murdered just because their birth is inconvenient, that the next thing in line would be to start killing off old people because they are thought to be inconvenient too. I think this health plan is headed in that direction and we need to stop it before it get started. What on earth is wrong with people and their thinking?

We don't need Christian people telling us how to live our lives either. No one should be.

It's good you know docs who do this with their patients. The hospitals are bound by law.

To give an anlaogy to those who seemingly don't understand this "update if not done within 5 years" business:

If you go to the ER with a "dirty" wound, e.g. cut on a fence, a rock, whatever, they will ask if you have had a tetanus shot within the last 5 years. If the answer is "yes", you don't need one. If it's "no", you do. But you don't need to get one every 5 years (10 is recommended, but even if it's been longer, another one will boost your immunity).

Well now does this apply to Biden and those in Congress of that age? Hmmm. Yes I do wonder how they can question their Master who also btw can walk on water.
