The powerful can change the laws so THEIR needs are suited. They could care less that the people may want to VOTE on who is representing them.

As I stated above, lawmakers can change laws. That's what they do. That is within their power.

(I'm wondering, if I do a search, will I find you saying "We're not a democracy. We're a republic. Rightwingers are fond of pointing that out.)

He is basically supressing the right to vote.
Oh cry me a river. There is no "right" to hold special elections. Each state can decide for itself what to do. That you don't approve is of no consequence to anyone.

And you know this how? Are you a pollster?

If the law says a special election is needed then it is needed for a reason.
Laws change. They change for a reason. Did you gripe when Bush changed the tax laws?

What is the point of our laws then?
They promote an orderly society. Don't you know that?

I am not just thinking from my point of view. I would say the same for any corrupt congress member who does this.
So then, all the Republicans who voted to change the tax laws are corrupt.

I do know we live in a republic... whatever the case I do not see how the people of Massachusets are represented by this manuever. and isnt representation the most important aspect of our nation?

I am one who will always support a vote. I feel the people should have a say in this matter. How can you argue that is a rediculous premise?

I have many gripes about Bush.
I see your points. This just seems to be a bit more conspicuous when a law can change just to suit one Senator's needs.

They were represented when the last election was held. If the law changes, they will be represented by the governor, whom they voted for in that last election. Just because you're drooling at the prospect of a Republican being elected doesn't change any of this.

What about the deficits? Didn't I read something from you complaining about government spending? Do you think special elections are free? You must be a dirty commie liberal if you expect elections to be free.

HAHa, any time a liberal gets disorientated they resort to lies and fabrications.

Now that you have blatently lied I no longer need to converse with you.

Pathetic.

This doesn't support your claim that "he is not representing the people who voted him in." For all you know, the people may agree with him.

Regarding your statement about voting, do you support direct democracy?

I agree, but that's how government and politics work. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, and I'm certainly not going to take the route of the OP and point fingers, "See. Look. Those evil Dems/Repubs. See. Look."

Which liberal are you referring to? I'm not liberal.

What lie? That's how you seem. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it, but it's not a lie.

I would have to study the differences more but it seems direct democracy is more representative of the people's will.

exactly, that was what I was trying to say with looking at the big picture. I am not drooling at the prospect of a Republican gaining his seat. I just want to make sure the people of Massachusets have their interests adequately represented. Thank you.
