You take a little vacation to Denmark and post the baseless comments to back your political ideology, sorry does not work for me.
Moderator cut: not necessary
I live in Europe and I find the same thing Republocrat has found.

If your brother views Europe with such disdain, why not move back to the US?

Is he Belgian? Or is he an American living in Belgium? Big difference. I'm of Belgian ancestry (Grandparents).

Very nice place. I can see why you love it there. I just don't like the winters there. Also remember, you were on vacation. Living and vacationing are two different animals. I do agree with you on the US being overrated. The US is a beautiful country that I love, and give it due credit, but will agree that it is overrated. We as Americans tend to boast too much, while many of us never step foot outside this country.

Those who never leave the USA to visit other countries are always the same idiots saying "We are the best". Doesn't it occur to many that there are many (many) people in this world that you could not pay enough money to move to the USA? I know plenty. I've lived in other countries to know that while this is my homeland, and I love it....others have the right to feel the same way about their homeland...

Truly, the Europeans wouldn't miss him at all.

Well said......(Move back if it's that bad)...and no European likes an arrogant American (republican)....(the Republican part was a joke...j/k).

Yeah, I always say, America is a pretty good country.
I've also lived in several other pretty good countries.

I have heard some small town geniuses say stuff like " I have never been outside of this country and I have no reason to" LOL

I know....

But more and more americans are traveling now than I have ever seen.
Many americans who at least take vacations abroad have "just discovered" how young america is as a nation. Basically the baby of the lot.

And so many are now living abroad too; there's thousands of them swarming into Europe every year and many are illegal since they too face immigration hurdles. I think the U.S. and the EU should have some form of bilateral agreement regarding immigration, because as a whole, we do have similar humanitarian and world views and are developed nations. And neither are like immigrants from third world nations, often involved in some shananigans or the other... so, overall, both nations make for a positive exchange.

This is a total generalization but I'm going to say it anyways: The people who are always claiming that America is the greatest place on earth are normally the ones who don't even have a passport! Traveling gives people a unique perspective and opens your mind to other possibilities. I found the same thing while I was traveling in Europe. If I could speak German or French, I could easily live in Europe.

And those people that "you could not pay enough money to move to the USA" have likely never been to the USA. Apathy is a two way street.

AH, Who ever said he has disdain?

He has enjoyed his time over there and embraced the experience. And he has said there are aspects that are better then America and others worse. He has a balanced view unlike many Moderator cut: personal attack on CD Forum.

Moderator cut: NO PERSONAL ATTACKS!

No, its true. Haven't we had enough of the 'ugly american' abroad who behaves like a jerk, and whinge every time something doesn't suit him? They embarrass themselves and behave like Bush on his foreign visits which used to be quite the stunner for everyone. The more they behave like jerks, the more people avoid them and finally they are left all on their own.

I recall one young woman in Rome - while standing in front of ruins with 3500 years of history right in front of her eyes - having nothing else to add but that she didn't like it because some waiter in a cafe didn't bother to acknowledge her presence well enough. She couldn't grasp the significance of everything that had happened over centuries on that very spot she was sitting on.

Besides, why the heck do so many american tourists YELL when they talk??? Is it really that difficult to talk in a normal tone?
