Good grief, man!!! Are you from some parellel universe where there are no rules?
You really should get in control of your emotions. From 1986 to February/2009 an expired U.S. passport was acceptable.

A couple of months before their year's lease was up, I sold the house, contingent on their moving out when their lease was up. One of the reason's I sold it was to get rid of them. What a friggin' hassel!! Rent was paid late or not in full. They never paid their water bill and to this day I don't know why the city never notified me. They plugged the kitchen sink with what we later found out was an oil rag! They washed the dishes in the bathtub. Their dog had puppies and they kept them in a bedroom ruining the original hardwood floor. I had to replace the floor. They bowed out the back wall of the garage. They broke the house's original banister going up to the second floor, it had to be replaced. That's not all but you get the picture.

I will NEVER rent out anything again. NEVER!!
You should have rented to Americans and not people from Ethiopia--haha

Have you been in a coma for decades?
You really need a life, and a new passport if you're having such crisis moments.

And why would I hire you, American or not?
Your anger issues would keep you from any gainful employment.
Never once did I say I was angry about having to provide proof of employment before renting an apartment. All the manager has to do is call my employer.

I did say that I was angry at the feds for dreaming up the I-9 form which has forced about 200 million Americans who were born in America to now have to prove they're American citizens when applying for a new job.

I did say that prior to about 1990 or so apartments did not generally do a criminal background check or credit report check.

You seem to have anger issues that prevent you from understanding what I am saying.

What is with these types of comments? Why do you think you're any better, than say, a legal Ethiopian immigrant?

Why do you think that was? It might just be more common today given the technology that's at our finger tips. Such resources weren't available in the 90's with such ease.

I think this is due to you distracting folk with snarky comments and insults.

According to birthers and Joe Wilson - a short form birth certificate, an SSN, or a drivers' license are not enough to prove a person's legal status in the country. The upshot is that every job applicant, whether white or visible minority, must show a passport, long form birth certificate, or green card in order to work or obtain health insurance. Cracking down on illegals means that everyone must have their papers in order.

The workers at your McDonalds may look Hispanic but doesn't mean that they are illegal.

Lighten up man. You democrats take your great humanitarian causes too seriously. I've found that in general people from east Africa that are from Muslim countries have very little regard for Americans or American way of life. I knew a friend in Seattle that rented his house to Ethiopians and heard some of the stories. I lived in an apartment next to these nuts that were from Zanzibar, and they were idiots. They were as disruptive as they could be. But I've also had some bad experiences with some American white trash hillbillies from Louisana. But I think it's perfectly acceptable to talk about traits/character/culture of people from different countries.

How about a link showing how this was just enacted in February 2009; and are you trying to blame Obama?

He was in office for what, 2 weeks.
He had bigger issues on his plate.

George Bush's Patriot Act changed our world.

If your passport is expired, that's a 10+ year old photo.

"Your papers please?" Isn't that what they always say in communist/socialist countries?
