It's absolutely OK, I'd even endorse it. I presume tvdxer's pastor also is an avid pro lifer, yet is antagonistic towards the usage of contraceptives, very hypocritical. Better to use contraceptives than have abortions in my opinion. If you think it's immoral, good for you, live by it, but contraceptives are irrefutably advantageous when teen and unwed sex are rife.
Of course it is moral. Having more children than you can afford or can pay full attention to is less moral to me. Natural Family Planning doesn't work all that well, and married people shouldn't have to go to that much trouble to make sure they don't have any unplanned babies. As far as having more kids being a disincentive to divorce, ya, staying in an unhappy marriage with more kids than you can handle isn't good for the husband, wife or ANY of the kids. Every child deserves to be wanted. Really wanted.
Artificial birth control isn't used to prevent birth. It's used to prevent conception. Do Christians mourn spilled seed, and eggs that were never fertilized ? Do they ? Is it their wish to have this poor freaking planet literally covered with church going beet faced screaming human babies ????

I agree. I'm pro-life and think it's much MUCH better to prevent the pregnancy in the first place, than to abort the already conceived fetus. And frankly, for my fellow christians, there's nothing in the Bible that prohibits contraception.
Personally, I believe artificial contraception (not natural family planning) is always immoral.
Our pastor gave an excellent (and brave!) homily on the sinfulness of artificial contraception and the damaging effects it has had on society today at mass. And while he could have done a better job presenting, he really struck the point home. The promiscuity that is so widespread today (the culture of "hooking up", serial sexual relationships, etc.) is largely facilitated by contraceptives. Divorce rates would likely be lower if couples had more children to act as an disincentive. And while I don't buy the whole "contraception causes abortion" spiel just yet, you have to admit that a lot of the time abortion is used as a "backup" to contraception, both psychologically and in reality. In addition, couples who have good reasons to limit the size of their family can use NFP (Natural Family Planning).
My only complaint is when Gov't gives away contraception for free. That is an "IMMORAL" use of public funds !!! ;-)
No, it's not. Because we live in a secular society, not a theocracy. We don't make laws and public policy based on the religious beliefs of right-wing Christianity. If you want to live in a theocracy, perhaps you should move to such a country, and stop trying to shove your religion down the throats of other Americans?

You'd rather pay to raise unwanted kids.
Great move.
Then don't complain about either welfare or the high crime rates caused by abused and unwanted (disposable) kids.
