The Tea folks are not libertarians. They believe that the govt. should be involved in the lives of individuals and corporate welfare, hence their social conservative bent. As I understand it from my Libertarian friends, Libertarians do not support getting the govt. involved in the individual lives of people - such as the current TX and WY GOP platform which would get the govt. in the bedroom, and they support lassiez faire capitalism which would end corporate welfare.
Nope the Tea follks believe in big govt just like the rest.
Sarah Palin is the polar opposite to a libertarian. She is one of the most hardcore social conservatives in a party that is full of them. People like Palin like to talk a lot about freedom and smaller government, but they don't really mean it.

Bingo. Someone actually gets it. It's funny that the people in this country who trumpet loudest about "freedom" and "liberty" seem intent to intrude in the lives of others (and other nations) as much as possible.
If Sarah Palin is part of the future of the party, her recent speeches seem to reflect a fundamental return to Goldwater principles. Does anyone agree?
"We’re not interested in government fixes; we’re interested in freedom! Freedom! Our vision is forward looking. People may be frustrated now, but we’re very hopeful too."
"All government spending should undergo serious scrutiny. No programs or agencies should be automatically immune from cuts."
"I see a bright future for America in Asia. One based on the alliances that have gotten us this far, one based on free and open markets"
"it should not be the responsibility of government to dictate the salaries of bankers or the ownership of companies. And yet, due of the excesses committed by some, this is exactly where we find ourselves now because government now owns substantial portions of the private economy – even, unbelievably, in the United States."
"The town halls and the Tea Party movement are both part of a growing grassroots consciousness among ordinary Americans who’ve decided that if they want real change, they must take the lead and not wait to be led. Real change – and, you know, you don’t need a title to do it. ...When my country again achieves financial stability and economic growth – when we roar back to life as we shall do – it will be thanks in large part to the hard work and common sense of these ordinary Americans who are demanding that government spend less and tax less and allow the private sector to grow and prosper."
With one big exception - She is still for wars of intervention. Next.
Here is a good example of Palin making kissy faces at the banksters :
Quote:
"it should not be the responsibility of government to dictate the salaries of bankers"
Notice she does not mention that it is not the constitutional role of the federal gvt to bail out the banks. Then according to her it is alright for the banks to take 700 billion from the tax payers and at the exact same time give out multi million dollar bonuses. Now if you were a bankster would n't this be music to your ears?
Keep in mind that who ever gets the big Wall street money ends up in office.
Our {R} freinds are always making fun at Obama and his " hope and change " message, here is Palin putting a little lip stick on the same pig.

Freedom, freedom, forward looking and hopeful, she hit all the chords in one paragragh but did she really say anything?

It's not at all difficult to understand their mindset.
They're blessed by their favorite god. So nothing they do is wrong nor can it be construed as immoral. Because they have divine permission.
Anyone else who doesn't conform to their "standards" of behavior or agree with their divinely-inspired viewpoints is an enemy. An enemy that needs regulating at the very least and eliminating if at all practical.
This is exactly why these crackpot "religious right" people simply will not compromise. They have some god or other on their side. They can't possibly be wrong. About anything. Any disagreement with their agenda is Satan's work.
