Please note the second paragraph:

I had another interesting experience around the time my paper in Science was published. I received an astonishing email from a major researcher in the area of climate change. He said, "We have to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period."
David Deming of intelligent design fame? Even Oklahoma University, hardly a bastion of academic excellence, wanted rid of this guy. Great expert Ferd.

you still show a graph that does NOT reflect historical data that proves the current trend is no really out of keeping with the historic record.
Satellites produce the same story bubba.

Are you kidding me? The ice caps melting has been measured. There are polar bears swimming right now, in areas that were under 10 feet of ice 5 years ago. Ice that has been solid for 3000 years is cracking apart and falling in to the sea. Scientist have actually measured this.

Really?

Gravity reveals shrinking Antarctic ice - environment - 11 March 2006 - New Scientist

A Mars Odyssey » Blog Archive » West Antarctica Melt

Antartica has contributed some of largest melts observed on the western ice sheet.

Youre right, its not groundbreaking. Its an elementary experiement that the blithering idiots on the right wing cant understand.

By the way, it proves that when water temperature is changed, it changes the air temperature. That is just the elementary basics of it. It also can change wind speed, salinity content, ocean currents, etc.

You want a science lesson? Go check out the atmosphere of Venus. Venus is a black and white example of greenhouse gas caused warming. The surface temperature is almost 500 F. You go ahead and keep pumping CO2 in to the atmosphere wholesale and think its not doing anything.
Oh this is fun! how about YOU check out the temp. record on Mars that reflects the same basic heating that earth has over the last 50 years or so... aint no humans there.

STILL you cannot get rid of previous Earth heating and cooling periods that are statistally no different than the current trend.

As for the poor Polar bears, tell that to Mitchell Taylor. He is one of the worlds foremost Polarbear researchers. He completely disagrees with you....

and he spends a lot of time actually LIVING WITH THEM.

YOU need to find some better facts. these are just silly.

As for the Antarctic, Lord Monckton disagrees:

In the Antarctic, however, sea-ice extent has recently reached a record high, and the current accumulation of land-ice at the South Pole is 8850 feet deep, increasing annually. The Times somehow failed to mention the Antarctic in its article.

you do your own search.

or you can review this... it is 2 days old unlike your 2006 data

Antarctic Ice info (date April 18 2009):

Australian Antarctic Division glaciology program head Ian Allison said sea ice losses in west Antarctica over the past 30 years had been more than offset by increases in the Ross Sea region, just one sector of east Antarctica.

sorry. no melt in the South Pole.

once again you provide data sans historic context.

what does that mean in the context of the last 1000 years? nada. nunca.

nothing.

zilp
zilch

however you want to say it, that graph doesnt mean a blessed thing other than we got warm from 1970 to today. Well who doesnt already know that?

The question is, is this warming somehow different than anything that has come before...when man was not adding to the CO2 level?

That is the question... and the rub is, you have to get rid of the MWP to say that... but you cant.

one more point.

if you take this graph, and use 1998 as the starting point, you get a line with a small downturn.

" Global Warming " is a very misleading catch-phrase that has done more damage, than good. Because people seem to take everything literally, all the time.
Exactly. And guess what? Wait for it......IT ALWAYS HAS. Alaska used to be sub tropical rain forest. Greenland used to have more tropical vegetation as well. Glacierologists, you know, those people who study glaciers, and their layers, which tell a basic timeline story, have found that there have been various melting and cooling periods thoughout time, along with increased and decreased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere, that wait for it......PREDATE HUMAN EXISTENCE. So to suggest that climate change, global warming, cooling, whatever, is speeded, slowed down, or otherwise influenced by man is stupid. People aren't causing climate change. What caused the Ice Age? Dinosaur farts?

Here we go. I was waiting for you to pull this one out RLC.

For those watching, please note those of us who oppose AGW deal with the science.

Those like RLC here who support AGW deal in character assassination.

The point here is the David Deming gave testimony before congress under oath. He was NOT charged with lying under oath.

I am reminded of Marc Anthony’s soliloquy… “They say Caesar was ambitious and they are all, all honorable men”

I think the fact that from 1988 to 2001 we actually heard how the earth was getting WARMER and have nothing to do with the "global warming" phrase.
Blah blah we are increasing the average temp of the planet, greenhouse effect etc.
Then when the numbers started changing the shift to "Climate Change" began.
The planet earth will be here long after we are dead and doing just fine because its on a cycle just like the earths seasons to move the dirt, the air and recycle itself.
The lands erode and rocks turn to sand and this planet even has polar shifts.
Tell me when you think a few government and green regulations are ever going to change the fact that the earth does what it wants too.
I feel like I'm living in the prehistoric times when every event was some supernatural experience and some how man-made climate change is somehow the new god to sell and print the bible on.
