Tulsa World: Inhofe: Obama received Nobel Peace Prize for 'de-emphasizing defense'

He has it exactly right. World liberals love talk of weakening America, eschewing a strong military and foreign policy in favor of ceding authority and power to a "world" body.

Quote:
OKLAHOMA CITY - Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Tulsa, said Friday that he thinks President Barack Obama got the prize for "de-emphasizing defense in favor of multi-national cooperation,'' an approach with which Inhofe disagrees.
They will naturally love him for it.

Maybe it was a way of telling the American people "We don't really hate you. We hated the way the other guy spit on the United Nations." Or maybe it was to say to us "Wow, after 43 times, you finally opened up your minds & hearts to the possibility that someone doesn't have to be a white male to run a country."

This is going to create a lot of pressure for Obama, but it comes at a good time, because now the naysayers have to shut up about the Olympics.

Oops - strike that. I just read what Beck is saying. I guess it doesn't matter what Obama does or does not do. Example

Announcement: Obama finds cure for AIDS.

Beck & Limbaugh: Obama is promoting promiscuity. Without the fear of AIDS, teenagers will start having unprotected sex and the teen pregnancy rate will soar.

Announcement: Obama's Health & Human Services Secretary reports deaths from cancer has dropped by over 30%.

Beck & Limbaugh: Obama's health policies are hurting the profits of funeral directors. Has he no shame?

50? More like 500 pages before the night is through - I hope you have a Costco-sized supply of popcorn!

The Nobel Peace Prize has ceased to have much meaning from my perspective after this joke. Not even the most left-leaning liberal can take this award seriously. I'm waiting for those wild and zany Scandinavians to say "psyche!"

I'm surprised the committee didn't learn from Bush's preemptive strike debacle.

Another take;

Some Prize (http://www.newmajority.com/some-prize - broken link)

Quote:
It was a pre-emptive strike against Obama, an attempt to neutralize him. How can a Peace Nobelist strike Iranian nuclear plants? Or wage a protracted war in Afghanistan? Or tell the Palestinians, “Sorry, that’s the best offer, take it or leave it”? The hope of course is that he cannot.

It was attempting to geld him.
Geld? Geld what?

Late night comedy should have a real good time with this.

Well awarding this prize to people who have not "earned" it was not the intention of Alfred Nobel.
I guess over the years the interpretation of what he wanted has been watered down. Notice he used the word "done" not "will do" in his will.

Obama: Nobel Peace Prize ‘a call to action’ - White House- msnbc.com

snippet:
In his 1895 will, Alfred Nobel stipulated that the peace prize should go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses."
