There was another story I remember about a Johns Hopkins student using his samurai sword to slice off the hand and subsequently kill an intruder, but I don't have the link. A great month for self-preservation indeed!

Good for her. As for the student, think I would stick to my guns, my Katana is not the weapon for tight spaces, but might do in a pinch.

I subscribe to the philosophy "speedy trail, speedy execution, and no appeals." I admire this senior woman's action in saving lives, ridding society of scum, and saving the taxpayers money in the process. We need more Americans like her.
Starting to hear more and more of these stories lately. Here in MI, somewhere in the Detroit Metro suburban area, a couple of guys tried to carjack a woman on her way to work and she pulled out a gun and shot them. In another story, an intruder broke into a womans home, and she shot him in the leg. Too bad she didn't kill him.
People are getting sick of criminals and are starting to fight back. With the severe cuts in the police force (not that they were all that effective to begin with), citizens are left with no choice but to defend themselves. I applaud each and every one who does.
What would you suggest? Bend over and let the criminals have their way?
I take it you've never been the victim of a violent assault or act?
If you're a christian, you do not kill.
Rules are the rules, are they not?
Your lot are very quick to spout about "the letter of the law....blah blah".
