I'm not supporting universal government only health insurance for everyone but for the select few and times when they are overwhelmed and have no other option. For instance those that are refused insurance due to illness pre existing.

A family making 50k or 60k a year are not in a position to have millions of dollars in medical debt even though they have insurance, or at least the amount within their financial bracket. And a multi millionaires child is not any more special or deserving to life sustaining treatment.

If she didn't have insurance, she'd pay off the diagnositics and be thankful that the news is good. If it weren't good, then she'd have a problem without insurance.

Sure, there are things that need fixing with the current insurance system, but we don't need to overhaul everything just to insure 36 million people. Let's just add them to the rolls for far less than this boondoggle is going to cost.
Let's fix portability and pre-existing conditions, and let's cap malpractice. Let's eliminate the billions of fraud in Medicare (why hasn't it been done already??) before we let them say with a wave of the hand that they can do that, and before we believe the promise that fraud won't be twice that in the public option. This government hasn't shown it is capable and responsible to handle what they've had, what makes any of us think things will be different in the future?

That is a horrible shame; I have no doubt that it is true.

This is the current problem with our health system. It is not the "unisured" illegal immigrants- they get free health care all the time through the ERs.

Working people who have been ruined by healthcare problems is beyond tragic. Solutions-

1. Eliminate "pre-existing" conditions
2. Allow a permanent "Cobra" if coverage stops due to loss or change of jobs
3. Allow medicare to trip in after a patient has spent 20% of thier assets on a medical problem

No one should have to go broke for a health problem!

Cash paying patients pay less than those with insurance. No paper work, easy transaction.

First, good news she is ok.

Second thing, the OP is wrong, flat out wrong. This has been debunked so many times it is not funny.
With my background in credit and financing I can tell you that 2/3 of bankruptcies are because people got themselves into huge credit card debt, took out equity on their mortgage or buried themselves in other debts, not because of medical reasons at all.
Some are, but the majority are not.

Now, please stop using the religion crap on us, I though the left wing immoral base did not want us to use the religion thing on you so please stop using it on us.

It has nothing to do with being a Christian and everything to do with making the right choices. The expanding health care issue is just what you called it, expanded to where the government will control it all and we do not want more government control, we want less.

Now why did you pay out of pocket cost for this procedure?

Do you not have health insurance?

Once again only 12 million people in America do not have health insurance and of those 12 million a huge majority is because they wont work to pay for their own or wont obtained the skills needed to land a decent job that might pay some of the HC insurance cost.

The OP tried to troll this topic by stating one thing but meaning another.
The OP was using the bankruptcy issue and putting it together with the medical issues so discuss this HC issue.

HC needs reformed for the cost of it, it does not need reformed to hand out free health care to people who have never taken the responsibility to actually work and earn their own health care like many of us have.

Goodness, when are people going to be responsible for themselves?
Please stop sticking your hands in my pockets for something you wont do anything about yourself.

I know many people who have family policies that run 500-800 per month and several of them work a couple days a week at night and weekends to pay for it outside of their normal jobs, so why cant others?

It is not that hard to earn 500.00 in a month if you are willing to EARN it.

Probably. I would not be surprised.

Many conservative I know like to scream and moan about socialism but have no problem when they get money from the government.

For example:

Meet my neighbor-Screams about how much he hates Obama the Muslim and that everything is a mess and that liberals are stupid and welfare is wrong. Yet, he collects SS every month and is on welfare and on medicaid.

Meet my friend-religious Republican. Says he is 100 percent capitalist and hates liberals who leech off the tax payers money, etc etc. Guess what? Bought himself a Playstation three from Walmart from his FINANCIAL AID MONEY FOR SCHOOL.

What can you say to people like this? Nothing really.

By the way did you know that mammography increases the risk of some cancers? Google it for yourself if you don't believe me.

The ERs do not provide chemo and they are not required to run these tests.

Correct. These are really the people that get the shaft in our current healthcare system. Most of us have great coverage. The poor get everything free. The working people with low or no coverage, or those who have lost coverage should be the focus of attention, not illegal immigrants. The whole healthcare "problem" could be solved by attention to this group.
