The reality is the crime rate has never been lower so, no, things simply aren't getting worse simply as a matter of FACT. What is true is the media hypes these stories more now and stories which a few decades ago wouldn't have made the news or at best would have been just local news is now national news.

The rest of it is all in the OP's own imagination.

Sadly, we have been a violent and fearful society ever since Columbus first landed here. This country was built on violence and fear. First against Native Americans, then against Blacks, then the communist menace, now the "islamofascist" menace.

It is legal in most normal regions,places that have restrictive governments forbid their citizens however.
