Exactly, that's one reason why we are great.

All your thoughts on China are hypothetical. It remains to be seen. The day they unpeg the Yuan is the day their economy contracts massively and the day their dreams of superpowerdom evaporates.

Do you think Iraq is some kind of success story?
In the long term, yes. Iraq is much better off today than under Saddam. Germany was not reunified and considered a success until nearly forty/fifty years after WWII.

Do you think Afghanistan is a success story?
Noticeably and with reason, I did not mention Afghanistan.

I feel like there is massive amounts of evil being done by Americans but with the idea that they are actually doing good. In "liberating" Iraq, we might kill millions. In "liberating" Vietnam, we killed around 3 million.
You feel like there is massive amounts of evil being done by America... when America confronts evil. Look at cambodia/burma, how many people died there? So you are okay with allowing dictators to totally decimate their populations?

Growing up in Fairfax, there is a huge pop of ex-pat Vietnamese; I heard the stories. How many citizens, business owners and land owners were massacred by vietcong and their communist allies? You are cool with that.

I'd rather confront evil and defeat it before concentration camps occur, before 9/11 type attacks happen.

Sounds like we did the honorable thing to me. Aren't you proud?
I am, unlike you, a Proud America. God bless.

Who intervened in Somalia? Who liberated Kuwait? Who stopped Milosovic? Who stopped ethnic cleansing in Bosnia? Who is dropping food and medicine from planes in Afghanistan? We did all that, and you saw it, didn't you? You saw the beacon, but you are too jealous to admit it.

The list is long and highlights our status as the "beacon of freedom". People from all around the world see the beacon and are drawn to it. The immigration figures are proof of it. You are protected here in America because of the Bill of Rights, which allows for freedom of speech, freedom to speak out against the government, and freedom of the press. If we are not the beacon of freedom, then would you be kind enough to tell us who is.
Go back to read your history in the world wars. U.S.A did not have anywhere near the casualties of other countries. You did help, but while france and close by countries suffered incredible losses, The U.S.A didn't take much of a hit at all.

I fail to see how a country that has only existed for 200 years can possibly have a more terrible history than all of Europe over the past two thousand years.

That was the theme of the Cold War era, both the US and USSR trying to push ideals on other nations in order to expand our spheres of influence. As a matter of fact, the vast majority of US intervention in foreign affairs over the past 50 years was related to the proxy wars with the USSR.

The US was supplying the Allies since just before the war began, so in that regard, we were helping from the start, just in a way that would keep us from being drawn into yet another largescale European conflict. As a matter of fact, considering how many long and bloody wars the Europeans tried to drag us into (starting with the 7 Years War in the 1700s, followed by the Napoleonic Wars), the US had every right to sit on the sidelines.

By that defination we certainly shouldn't have gone to athe aid of britasin anf france during WWII.We didn't inavde south vietnam or south korea ;it was the north vienamese and north korean governmennt that invaded.Youy have a simpllistc view of what is right and what is good;much different from any administration from FDR to present or the american public by a wide margin.I guess you feel that the nazi's were victims too. I thnik that most in europe and the USA know waht they see as evil as does most the millions of victims in the world.Europe fopr example is in afganistan .The british are in iraq. Yes people will die but they die veryday in those countries long before we got there at the hands of what most see as evil. Some people now days can't decide to do anyhting and say thier hands are clean as long as they personally don't do anyhting;whcih lead to slaughter in Bosnia and is going on right now in the Sudan everyday. Are you proud of your inaction to help your felowman. You seem afraid to act because you might not be liked or you might actually have to be responsible for something that happens. Inaction helps the conscience and you can always point the finger elsewhere.

Is United States a shining beacon in the world? If so, why do foreigners hate USA?

Yes, the US remains a universal goal for many throughout the world. Not all foreigners hate the USa. Only those whose opinions are published by the media.
