As a small business owner, I can assure you that if I don't like you, I will find one of a hundred different ways to get rid of you, no matter if you like men, women, or animals.
...which is why legislation like this is tough to enforce. Bigoted employers like AeroGuy will find other reasons to get rid of someone. Or his employees will force out the gay or lesbian.
(there is a good example of how this works, but regarding racial prejudice, in Richard Wright's autobiogrphy)
As a gay professional male, I have to keep my being gay from fellow employees because even if you think your current boss would be ok with it, it's only a matter of time before someone that may not will become your boss. And everywhere I've worked, there have been anti-gay evangelical Bible toters in the office who made their views loud and clear. And if someone wants to fire you, they'll find some reason. This law will change nothing for gay Americans.
And the FRC is such a bigoted bunch of loons, sometimes I question whether they really believe what they say, if if it's just a way for them to make money off ignorant people.
I believe that legislation that targets a specific lifestyle is going overboard. Let's be honest here. The chances of being fired because you're gay is slim to none. As a small business owner, I can assure you that if I don't like you, I will find one of a hundred different ways to get rid of you, no matter if you like men, women, or animals.
Really, you think so? I think it's going overboard for an employer to fire someone because they're gay & then pansy around the real reason for the firing by thinking up "a hundred different ways" to get rid of that person. I wonder if you'd feel this blase about it if someone were fired for the religion they followed. Afterall, that's a lifestyle for many.
wow, you sound like a very educated, well-adjusted, rational individual.
glad you vote...
Being homophobic and wishing to deprive other tax paying American citizens equal rights is being well adjusted? From a logical and moral standpoint, it is rather maladjusted.

Jeffrey Boy, its time to get out the dictionary and a law book. When you get a chance, put Homomania to the side for a moment and look up "bigot" and "right to work laws." I can assure you the law is on my side.
Should I have the right to fire you because I do not like the fact you are religious or the particular religion you practice?
The same question applies. Do you know of anyone that has been fired simply because they were a Christian?
A whole bunch of what-if's is purely a function of liberal ideology.
My belief is that you go to work to work. Your lifestyle should never be a part of the equation. I don't believe that these protections are necessary, and i'm merely pointing out that these laws have absolutely no teeth when I can find a hundred other reasons to fire you.
