During his appearance yesterday on Fox News Sunday, Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) appeared to give out some inside dirt from his days as a Republican -- alleging that the GOP plotted early to stop any bipartisan cooperation with President Obama, and to instead look towards the 2012 election.

Yeah, that's what they did in the late 90s when they tried to shut the government down and it ended up costing them seats in the 98 election and Gingrich lost the speakership. Not a winning strategy to stand for nothing but your opponent's downfall.

No secret here. The Republicans know that the government can not manage it's way out of a paper bag never mind health coverage for millions of people.

You don't believe in it which is why you do it so poorly. Republicans used to know how to govern quite well. You let the nuts take over and the whole thing went down the tubes.

Yeah, the Republicans have been on this obstructionist kick since they got smoked in the presidential election. I hope they keep it up, since it means a very bleak future for the party.

oh, and spector is such a reliable source.....

spector a democrat in the 60's was part of the JFK cover-up

and republiCANs, more so conservatives have been againts the STUPID health INSURANCE con-job that liberals have been pushing...which they have been pushing since 1965........When Medicare finally passed in 1965, Rep. Phil Burton (D-Calif.) expressed the sentiments of many among its Great Society enthusiasts when he said, "I am equally certain that before many years Congress will choose to extend comprehensive medical care as a matter of right to every man, woman, and child in this country, a single payer system."

but look at what was promised back in 1965 just for medicare......At its start, in 1966, Medicare cost $3 billion. The democrat controlled House Ways and Means Committee estimated that Medicare would cost only about $ 12 billion by 1990 (a figure that included an allowance for inflation). But in 1990 Medicare actually cost $107 billion. today for fy08 it cost 390 Billion..............so much for liberal math

then lets look at medicaid...A SINGLE PAYER SYSTEM.....for fy08 it cost 300 billion...that's just to cover 30 million poor people.....simple math says the 30 million is 10 percent of 300 million (our population)...so for a single payer system for EVERYONE in the U.S.A. it would cost about 3 TRILLION a year...going up every year.....that's more than the IRS takes in right now....so just where would the money come from

we DO want health CARE reform....not some stupid manditory health INSURANCE , that does NOTHING to cut COSTS...does nothing to help the working class person

instead of 2000-3000 page laws that are so full of crap that no politician even wants to read or understand it...why not just raise the threshhold for medciad/schip to cover the workingclass/self employed that are having trouble getting coverage, take out pre-existing, and make it mobile....it could be done in a 3 page law....nope the liberals want to screw the middle class again.

So, it took you how long to discover this? Or did you really have to read about it somewhere. This is not much different than the Donks while they were in the out house.

The less Congress gets done the better off the country will be.

Health care was not a crisis until Obama said it was a crisis.

I was against this from day 1 - so what's the big deal? This is not a new issue.

The left would be against any tax cut legislation from day 1.

This is not a big deal.
