It must be hell for some people to live in a country like the U.S. where freedoms are slowly but surely always on the increase. I can't even relate to the mindset of wanting to return back to some imaginary "good old days".

Crazy right wingers in America have committed 9 poltically motivated assasinations in the US since Obama ran for President.

But it's the "liberals" who are intolerant.

I'm not sure who said that but I have heard it many times and I agree with it. Wait until the younger generation gets older and see them become conservative. I have seen it with my son. He got out of college and is not so liberal anymore since he started a family and has bills to pay and lives in the real world. I guarantee he will get more conservative the older he gets.

What is a true conservative? Is it someone who is considered Neo Con such as David Horowitz who supports the neo con adjenda of the middle east and would not hesitate invading Iran, or someone that is is considered traditional conservative such as Ron Paul who thing its waistful the US is spending trillions on overseas wars, and money be better spent at home. Or is a true conservative is someone like GW Bush where they believe Gay marriage can spell doom to the nation and believes that US needs to use its military muscle on securing its overseas oil supply, and not really developing any plans to get away from its dependance of foreign oil?

"When you are young and not a liberal you have no heart, when you are older and not a conservative you have no brains."

This quote is for older generations. Not everyone in this generation that's getting older now owns a home in the suburbs with 2.5 kids. And even if they do, their views are still more socially liberal than the views of many conservatives. Perhaps people become fiscally more conservative, but not socially IMO. I'm a parent and I have no issues with gay people. They are people too, and my kids will be taught to respect all people.
