MILWAUKEE, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Towns in Milwaukee County are wrestling with the thorny issue of when to hold Halloween trick-or-treating to keep kids in their own communities, they say.

The problem arises because communities have been holding their official trick-or-treat nights on different dates allowing sugar seekers to target communities other than their own on different nights, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Sunday.

Here's an idea... how 'bout trick-or-treating ON Halloween? Problem solved.

How did these people know there were "interlopers"?
Are they checking ids and tags?

That is a strange issue to deal with in January.

Weird. I can't imagine what the fuss is all about. On Halloween a lot of people leave their neighborhoods for 'greener pastures'.....and lets face it - safer areas. Nothing unusual about it and nothing to get upset about either.

Well it will probably take a few committees, a public poll and then public hearing and then another few committee meetings before they bring to their city council who then need to hold some additional meetings.....

That alone could take up 9-10 months. Halloween won't wait for them

I do know over the years parents complained about doing Halloween stuff on "school nights" and wanted the public offerings to occur on weekends. Some went the weekend before while others went the weekend after. I know while my son was growing up there was always something on the actual day so I took him to that. I didn't do the other stuff that occurred.

You guys will laugh but it is a problem in small towns. We have it now where I live. The Town usually has an event, parents bring their kids to it from elsewhere and drop them off. The kids go to the event and then spread out over the town. I can remember my mother raising holy Hell when I was little about the "farm kids" coming in to town to trick or treat (we had just moved to town after my dad died, by the way). That was 50 years ago. My ***** now is the young adults, mostly mothers, who take their small children out and also expect candy.
Maybe I'm just getting cranky.

Oh yeah, the parents bringing their kids in: it also happened with TS Isabel a few years ago, created a safety nightmare with them trying to go swimming in 8 foot waves and 60mph wind.

Where I am it's not farm kids, though. It's upper income sub-division kids.
