Yes, but just being in the top 5% doesn't make you rich, considering that even within that percentage range there is a HUGE variation in income.
The left call 250k rich. I don't. But they still can be in the top percentages that are responsible for paying most of the taxes in the country.
One has nothing to do with the other.
this was not an argument about who is rich and who isn't it was about dumbass rush being a hypocrite. And again top 5% is pretty good whether you call it rich or not
Proof positive you dont have a darn clue.. In MANY areas of the country $200K a year to live off of will have you in a shack..
The average income for someone living in LA is $1,717,098 a year.. If you bring in $200,000 a year and live in LA.. you are indeed poverty... The fact that in YOUR area of the country $200K a year is a lot.. or perhaps its due to your age.. doesnt mean it isnt povety in some areas of the country..
so now we use the richest area area of the country as a measuring stick?? Great argument. I mean really great. Since according to the last census the avg family income was just under 50k a year I think you might be a little off base. But you always are and twist twist twist you go trying to alter what people say
here a Suffolk county police officer (regular PO, not a sergeant or detective, or lt) the standard salary (after 5 years) is 125k..not counting overtime.
teachers start at 60k, and most over 10 years are over 100k..not counting the extra pay of summerschool (which is optional)
so it is very easy for a PO/teacher couple to be making 250k or more
suffolk county is not "average" america. Not to mention both of those careers come with pensions and life long medical insuarnce

If you are going to discuss the top earners in the country, you indeed need to discuss the richest people? This cant be that difficult for you because my 9 year old son could tell you that..

you would rather use the poorest area as a measuring stick????
wow you must have alot of time on your hands to go back to other posts and take statements out of context and post them in another thread. Maybe you should get a hobby

rush maybe an idiot at times... but he is correct on a lot of things too
the FACT is the top 5% does pay the brunt of the taxes(60%) in america...period
people making under 45k (and sometimes higher) pay ZERO in federal INCOME tax.....
What you describe is upper middle class, but not necessarily wealth or rich. Upper or lower, its still middle class in my book. And yes, in certain areas you do have to send your kids to private school, and many middle class people do because of the school townships that they live in.
so the top 2% is not the rich people?????? than there are very very few rich people in your mind. You are talking about the relative handful of people who make more than the other 295 million people in this country
