I find it very ironic that people are willing to ingest substances that are not at all regulated, dispensed by any old person with no education regarding effects of what they are prescibing, and yet people are completely suspicious of pharmacists who have years of education and experience, and the FDA. WOW.

I didn't realize witch doctors were so popular these days.

Go ahead and hand me that tinfoil hat. I will go to the doctor if I'm really sick and will take antibiotics when I need to. I eat healthy, exercise and go out of my way to get non-chemicalized food.

Yep they love chronically ill people. They have a pill for everything and when that pill causes something they have another pill

You are incredible uninformed. ever hear of Naturopathic doctors? Legally licensed in many states? herbal schools?

You do not know that the FDA is also corrupt? Who told you that people that are practicing alternative medicine are not thoroughly trained and licensed? There is a reason that many traditional practices are incorportating alternative treatments into their practices.

FDA Scientists Complain to Obama of 'Corruption'

"Managers with incompatible, discordant and irrelevant scientific and clinical expertise in devices...have ignored serious safety and effectiveness concerns of FDA experts," the letter said. "Managers have ordered, intimidated and coerced FDA experts to modify scientific evaluations, conclusions and recommendations in violation of the laws, rules and regulations, and to accept clinical and technical data that is not scientifically valid."

This is not anything new, BTW.

Even the over the counter cold remedies are bad. There is a reason that symptoms such as watering eyes and a runny nose accompany a cold. It is the body attacking the germs. When you inhibit this reaction, you are not allowing your body to strengthen your immune system. Everybody wants a quick fix and do not understand the underlying harm that they are doing.

So true.

I am painfully aware of what naturopaths do. I have no problem with traditional and non-traditional medicine working simultaneously, but that is seldom the case. I have a huge problem with people buying mega dose vitamins from health food stores, and with naturopaths discouraging people seeking medical treatment when their remedies are exhausted.

The term medical errors encompasses a extremely wide range of issues, not just drug related. The most common cause of death attributed to medical error is post-operative infection. Data collection of medical errors is not standardized, and therefore inconsistent. We have an extremely high incidence of medical errors in the US, there's no denying that, and the causes are multifaceted.
