I think the only reason he mentioned that is due to the 'Down Syndrome' ruckus that broke out over 'Family Guy's' treatment of Mrs Palin in the infamous 'Down's Syndrome' episode, and her remarks afterwards...I REALLY don't think sickofnyc is validating her opinion in any fashion (are ya, sick? LOL)

Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children. In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord. There's a special punishment Christians would suggest
The headline is not a direct quote, but an interpretation of what Bob Marshall said. ((Which the audio is merely the quoted statement))

He did make a half-attempt at saying he did not label disabled children as a "punishment".

Here is a link to the article

But, in actuality, he really states: "You're misinterpreting me. I didn't call them a punishment."

Actually, his view is sometimes held by others.

I recall that around 1986 Ronald Reagan had a fellow he wanted to appoint to a Cabinet position that involved Health and Human Services, who stated in his testimony that he was against funding programs to help the handicapped because that was against God's will. He went on to explain that handicapped kids were a punishment for past life transgressions.

Fortunately, he was never confirmed.

I think he's specifically targeting women who have had abortions & have gone on to have children that came out disabled....what a loon.

Pat Robertson *was* one of the people that signed the petition.

Secondly, I understand your disagreeing with MrJoshua, as is your right, but I have to side with him---I would say I'm one of those who doesn't particularly care for Mrs Palin...same as there are a growing legion of folks who don't care for the current President or his cabinet, to draw a parallel...

Her every 'burp and sneeze' is fodder for the press, same as the President and his kith and kin, because she has made the choice to put herself in the public eye, by speaking at various functions, working for Fox News, being an author ('Going Rogue')...the list goes on...therefore, those who care for her and support her, continue to make themselves heard, as do those who don't---that's just the way it is, no matter which side you happen to be on
Mr Joshua stated that he thought "no one" cared - I simply corrected him, since plenty of folks apparently do care about Palin. I didn't disagree with his personal lack of interest in Palin, I was pointing out that his opinion does not cover that of the entire nation. I simply clarified that there are plenty of folks who DO care. Follow?

And thank you for the civil-ness of your reply...I see that you and I can agree to disagree on this issue, but that's a RARITY here on City-Data---I've seen some back and forth here in Politics, and also in the US Forums, that has literally made me say 'whoa---calm down...it's just a chat forum already!!' But I digress...I understand completely the point you were making, and though I don't agree with your opinion, I WILL respect both you and your right to express yourself
