The Thread title is incorrect.

The subject of the article is NOT Universal Health Care

I read it based on how you titled it and found the information you provided very helpful.

I agree, it may not be perfect but it is a good start.

Why think that? Your healthcare providers are not going to be replaced. Maybe your insurance company employees, but 6 of 1....

Let me get this straight....you think "government healthcare", whatever the hell you think that is, means all the doctors, hospitals, nurses, etc. that you currently use are going to be replaced with dmv and postal workers or something similar?

Pretty sure healthcare reform is about the insurance end of things, not who's looking up your bum.

Thanks, that is how I look at it as well. People love to put titles on things to make a point or think they are making a point.

and again the question is: who pays for this..?? I am in favor of some sort of coverage for everyone on a sliding scale. I also think if a person does not choose to carry insurance, that is their choice but they can not run to the emeregancy room without coverage (unless it is a matter or life and death). Most of us want to see some changes...Just make sure it isn't so costly for those who have to pick of the cost..

I like the Medicaid buy in idea. If you have no insurance, or the insurance that is available at your workplace is unaffordable, you can "buy into" the Medicaid system. It would be on a sliding scale according to household income/number of family members. I would also like to see more clinic based health care. Instead of utilizing an emergency room (except in an actual emergency) you could get most care, including routine care at a health clinic.

I totally agree. What you pay for health care should be based on your current income. It is ridiculous to expect someone who makes $20,000 a year to pay $500 a month for health insurance.
