Because it would be a stupid way to fight the war.
Pakistan would refuse to allow it - besides, why should we do that when we can simply help the Pakistanis do it? They've made lots of progress over the last year or so, now that they've FINALLY figured out that the terrorists threaten THEIR security as well as ours.
a new war and an extra 1.5 billion per year to pakistan in non-military aid. that is change!
UPDATE 2: The Unforgiving Minute author Craig Mullaney, rumored to be the next Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Central Asia, thinks the increased non-military aid to Pakistan may be just as important as the commitment to schwack the country’s insurgents. Obama asked Congress today to pass a bill co-sponsored by John Kerry and Richard Lugar that authorizes $1.5 billion per year in civilian support for Pakistan over five years. That’s triple the cash given now.
good think that american unemployment is under control, wall street is under control, illegal immigration is under control, the wars are under control, and FULL SPEED AHEAD WITH THE SPENDING!

Has anyone noticed how all the "war protests" have essentially vanished since Obama took office? Obama has made Afganistan "his war" and has stepped up troop committments and operations in that area. However, there are no protests over this war, while thousands took to the streets on a weekly basis to protest the Iraq War. What gives?
war is expensive. i thought this might sober up some of the war advocates if they actually sit down and think about it: The Federal Pie Chart
i thought this was an interesting statistic, along with the charts:
The United States accounts for 47 percent of the world’s total military spending, however the U.S.’s share of the world's GDP is about 21 percent.

More importantly, why are none of these protests covered by the major media outlets?
That's the answer. We saw the daily death tally on the Evening News every night toward the end of Bush's term. Now, we've racked up tons more Americans dead and maimed, for the same ridiculous excuses, but not a word from the media. We can sit at home and seethe all we want, but unless the media puts it on the TV, there is no VOICE to the public sentiment. Personally, I'm outraged. Obama was supposed to provide an alternative to Bush, not just be a million times worse.
Most folks on the Left are not opposed to the Afghanistan War (and never were).
It's involvement in the pointless Iraq War they had a problem with - and that's now winding down.
The fact that clueless folks on the Right refuse to acknowledge that says more about those folks on the Right than it does about anyone on the Left.

Umm Iraq is winding down? Link?
