I can tell you from experience that the health care bill as we have experienced it in Europe will cause;
Less doctors willing to work in a health environment as the bill will create, so waiting list will be growing really fast...no fear monger, just reality.
Just this morning I heard my 79 yr old dad will have to wait for one injection to get rid of pain, for 7 more weeks....just because the hospital only has one doctor to give these shots and he is only there one day a week and the other days he is working in other hospitals....all hospitals are owned by the government!
Less health care will be given due to the costs being to expensive...no fear monger, just reality.
Taxes will be higher and abortus will be covered in the future...no fear monger, reality.
26,500 new IRS employees will be checking on everybody if they have enough coverage or you will get a penalty...say hello to the IRS checking on every step you take...no fear monger, reality!
In the long run patients won't be able to just go to any doctor since that will be too expensive...just as in Europe...no fear monger, reality.
Of course it is nice if every one has health ins. coverage....but is it nice to have an illegal alien getting free health care? No to me, I'm not willing to pay one dime for them...they come here with no background checks and want to get the same as I had to pay for to get over here and the same as I'm paying for? Hell NO!....No fear monger, reality!

This current bill will ration health care, force tons of doctors into other jobs and will tax us to death to pay for it.
That is sad that you father has to wait for what he needs. That generation worked very hard and deserve to be taken care of.

THEY keep talking about revenue neutral and in the same breath admit that they plan to take $50 billion per year from Medicare to use to pay for Medicaid. I guess you don't know anything about the European programs since you lived there and the lefties who support this bill have never done it but they do get the good words from American socialists about how it happens in Europe.
Who ever said it would be exactly the same as programs in Europe? That's like trying to make a square peg fit in a round hole.
America will not implement things exactly as other countries have. It's not possible with the framework we have in place and the sheer number of people in our population, illegal or legal.

I lived in Germany for many years. I'm an American, had no military connection and worked for German employers. I encountered a problem with my work permit (Arbeitserlaubnis) which is required of all non-EU residents. Immediately, I had to be released by the employer. Five days later I developed a severe back problem. From a general practitioner I received a daily injection for three days. That didn't help, the doctor referred me to a specialist. After an exam by the specialist he put me in the hospital for treatment. I stayed in the Red Cross Hospital, Frankfurt, for three weeks.
Although unemployed, I paid nothing for any of the doctors, exams and hospital stay. The entire bill was settled by AOK.

Haha most Europeans think health care is for free since they don't pay attention to their pay stub's....they are so used to see the employee part for health care taken out before they receive their wages that most have no clue what they are paying for it...just as they don't realize half of the time that on everything they buy they pay sales tax which in The Netherlands is 19%...but if you buy a car and pay Euro 16,000.- and no tax is on top of it, but incl...it feels different...the same counts for gas prizes which are incl with the 19%...so it feels different then over here where the price is $ 15K for a car and then you pay 6% sales tax and the amount is all of a sudden higher...that feels like you pay more...

It is ridiculous and having been here during the Holidays they now realize that they have been kind of brain washed all these years just like I was, because you were born in that system and didn't have anything to compare so it felt like it was great and cheap..
I never realized I paid so much for health care until I moved over here and I never realized that people could get mammograms and pap smear test taken every year....we had it from a certain age and only once every 5 years unless something was found wrong...and it was!!!!
We pay taxes for driving a car over here, but not like Europe...you pay by the weight of your car, + sales tax on everything, + every year your car needs to be approved by certain bodyshops on which again you pay sales tax so you are allowed to drive on the road, etc....
BTW when is the IRS checking if car drivers pay for their car ins. so innocent people can't get hit by a car driven by an uninsured driver? How much damage are they doing....but now Obama wants to hire 26,500 IRS people to spy on others if they pay enough for health care....are you serious!

I lived in Europe for 30+ years and completely disagree with bentlebee's take on the respective merits of US and European healthcare.
