As a FORMER, New Yorker, I can assure you that the day we allow the states of New York, New Jersey, Michigan, and California decide the fate of this country is the day we are DOOMED!!! Not fear...FACT. Those great states are virtually BANKRUPT because of your socialistic STATE policies and now you want the rest of us to join you in the SWAMP of bankruptcy...it hasn't worked in Massachussets and it won't work on the federal level. Instead of a bi-partisan bill that would have worked towards really solving health care problems and lowering costs we got "WHATEVER THE DEMS COULD SHOVE THROUGH"....no tort reform, no buying across state lines......we wouldn't want to upset the legal special interest groups now would we?? Wake up America, everything this government touches, Democrat or Republican, turns to shyte..ie: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Public Housing, and U.S. Post Office......garbage, bloated, fraught with waste and fraud and ALWAYS...let me repeat that ALWAYS WAY over forecasted budget. We have screwed our children and grandchildren........thank Congress for listening to the American people......

Has the right wing ever put out a movie like Sicko or An Inconvenient Truth?

NYTimes has a circulation of a little over a million now. With op eds like these, I hope they don't wonder why.

If i may add my 2 cents. I don't think the gop is the party of fear, they just don't do anything for those who are in need or different from them. They seem to have one mindset which is not one of flexibility.

No one is claiming that the GOP has any talent.

Liberals gladly use fear tactics too. Stop pretending they don't.

This is the party of trickle down and weapons of mass destruction, the party of birthers and death-panel lunatics. This is the party that genuflects at the altar of right-wing talk radio, with its insane, nauseating, nonstop commitment to hatred and bigotry.

Hmm, overcast today...must be Republican's fault.

Economic inequality is resolved through education, but liberals will never get out of bed with the NEA long enough to give poor black kids vouchers like they used to have in DC before BO took them away. Blacks arrive at college poorly prepared because they got passed along by a system and a liberal culture that is more interested with blaming whites for their shortfalls than taking the first step in changing by acknowledging the problem. Well, don't worry. We can fix it by adding some "striver" points to their SATs.

Want to see economic inequality? Just head to the nearest whites-only trailer park. You'll not only see some white males who were born into a perpetual cycle of poverty, but you'll also see the only people who are actually denied opportunities because of Affirmative Action.

Near total collapse of the economy? Sure, but Republicans caused it? Hardly. Carter signed the CRA. Wasn't behind all the toxic assets, but it certainly contributed. Democrats are the ones who told Snow to go pluck himself when he lobbied Congress for a new regulator for the GSEs. Clinton signed NAFTA and China's permanent most favored nation trading status. If your job went away, there's good chance Clinton made it possible. Clinton also signed the GLBA that repealed Glass-Steigall in 1999 and the Commodities Futures Modernization Act of 2000 that made sure CDOs had no regulatory agency overseeing their use as they permeated the financial markets.

"Although hailed by the PWG on the day of congressional passage as “important legislation” to allow “the United States to maintain its competitive position in the over-the-counter derivative markets”, by 2001 the collapse of Enron brought public attention to the CFMA’s treatment of energy derivatives in the “Enron Loophole.” Following the Federal Reserve’s emergency loans to “rescue” American International Group (AIG) in September, 2008, the CFMA has received even more widespread criticism for its treatment of credit default swaps and other OTC derivatives."

"Despite indications no agreement would be reached, on October 19, 2000, the White House announced its “strong support” for the version of H.R. 4541 scheduled to reach the House Floor that day. The House approved H.R. 4541 in a 377-4 vote.
As so passed by the House, H.R. 4541 contained, in Title I, the language concerning OTC derivatives that became the source for Title I of the CFMA and, in Title II, the language regulating “security futures” that became the source for Title II of the CFMA. Titles III and IV would be added when the CFMA was enacted into law two months later."

Trickle down tax cuts does work and weapons of mass destruction? Are you referring to the many Democrats who were making that claim?

The N.Y. Slimes? Does anybody still take that "news"paper seriously? It is still in business?
What is this about Al Gore? I was plastic wrapped and duct taped inside my house.
