Right now, they're into trotting out Blacks and Latinos in a lame attempt to disprove that they're racists. Next, they will trott out the two democrats that voted for Obama then joined the tea party.

It would be more accurate to poll American voters on how they feel about the tea party and whether or not they are a member, sympathize with them, disagree or think they're extremists. That would give more accurate numbers on how the average American feels about these tea parties.
Compared to where Obama started and where he is now. Yeah hes lost a lot of approval.

Really it wasnt the independents that got Obama elected or do you think registered democrats alone got Obama elected?

Your comment about trotting someone out doesnt even deserve an answer

Now if you are for big gov and High debt and wasteful spending and high taxes I am sure you are against the tea parties. Its kinda hard to believe that there is people that support that out there but I know there so

I saw these Tea Party crowd on RTE news (Irish national broadcaster) and I could not believe what a bunch of redneck, racist, rightwing, imperialists and flat Earthers they where. Please do not tell me this is mainstream America. In Europe we always knew they where a significant grouping, but if they are the mainstream, its "goodnight Eileen" methinks.

I knew Palin was a bit of lowbrainer but I was shocked to see her at a rally with people calling to "take Obama out" . Their attitude was that Universal Health Care is bad, but a marshal culture, free ownership of unnecessary firearms, a constant need for a constant state of war, religious fanaticism, capital punishment, petrol-guzzling, big is best is good . What a shocking understanding of priorities. I have to admit these Tea Party folks are indeed a colourful bunch, I will give you that. If I could think of a flavour for the tea at their tea party it surely would be lemon and uncured olives, because they are a bitter and sour bunch.

The Tea Party has allot of selling to do if they want people to believe their cause is to rage against big government, wasteful spending, and high taxes. I don't believe it for a second. Personally I believe the Tea Party is against Democrats and namely Obama. Their goal is to "Take back America" = destroy the President.

I'm sorry that your news sources seem to provide you with such a false view of the Tea Party movement. Perhaps you should engage in a discussion with some of the people involved in the movement before becoming too committed to the opinion you just expressed.

Any chance you have a link to a recording of that RTE story? I'd be interested in seeing just how false and misleading the reporting in your country is. Right now, I only have your account, and I'd like to see it for myself before passing judgment.

Tea Party 48% Obama 44% - Rasmussen Reportsâ„¢

Quote:
On major issues, 48% of voters say that the average Tea Party member is closer to their views than President Barack Obama. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 44% hold the opposite view and believe the president’s views are closer to their own.

Among voters not affiliated with either major political party, 50% say they’re closer to the Tea Party while 38% side with the President.
More people coming to their senses.

Amazing how the demographics of the Tea Party and national adults jive.

I have to agree here. I also believe that Americans are the dumbest people in the industrialized world, so why not label Tea Party as mainstream?

Until this country quits electing people like George W. Bush then its safe to say that the Tea Party is mainstream.

Only in times of dire straits do we actually feel compelled to stem the damage and elect a Democrat to fix the ideological sinkhole that Republicans leave in Washington D.C. after their turn in power.

RTE has a very good reputation internationaly. If you watch the videos below you might be surprised to know that Irish people consider RTE a bit right of centre to be honest.

Sorry I have been mulling around the RTE site trying to find it, best of luck if you can find it.

Europeans are smarter than Americans. Your perceptions are fairly accurate.

They remain the lunatic fringe but their numbers are substantial and they also have a loyal band of Congressmen in the House that are nuttier than they are.

THAT is the scary part.

Don't worry we have plenty of idiot politicians in Ireland and Europe too, and they are not all on the right either.
