Why is Janet Napolitano involved in the oil spill? What does it have to do with Homeland Security? This doesn't seem to be a big FEMA thing. It seems to me DHS would have the least involvement.

I could see Environmental Protection Agency involvement for obvious reasons.

I could see Department of Defense involvement as the military is working on the containment. Is the branch of the military that's primarily involved the Coast Guard because that is under DHS? I think they responded first but I don't know if they are involved in containment of the spill.

I could see the Department of Energy involvement.

I could even see the Department of Commerce involvement.

So why is Napolitano, as the head of Homeland Security, the administration face we see all over the News on this incident? Why isn't it one of those other department heads?

I don't have any answers/theories except maybe because the Coast Guard was the first responder, it's her.

What a coincidence Arizona drove that illiterate pig out of their state then B.O. appoints her homeland puppet (because she's a YES woman) then AZ signs an immigration bill. Very curious.

Well, I know that all of my friends from the Gulf Coast are complaining that the Feds aren't acting fast enough ... I am under the assumption that they don't care what department, as long as the Fed helps. Fwiw, 99% of my friends from the region are Republicans.

Would have only been a matter of time. She's an inept politician. But then, that's why she holds her current post.
