Meet on the corner, never in your home.
When selling big things, have a can of Raid for hornets and wasps handy.
Have a friend there with a cell phone and his can ready too.
Thats if you don't own a gun.

I've used CL successfully quite often. In fact, I just sold a major piece of farming equipment from it two days ago. The older fellow who showed up was actually a Christian man and his son. Of course this deviated much from the scenario several months ago when a confused young man showed up at my front door and asked if I would exchange sexual favors for the wood-working equipment he wanted to purchase from me.

At best, CL appears to be mostly inhabited by younger people along with hoards of scammers looking for careless advertisers. The scammers are a nuisance, as was the misguided young fellow who visited me, but these sorts can usually be easily dealt with.

In short, I don't believe I would go as far as banning CL. It's simply another low cost service in a very tough economy. However one should always remember that, like health care, anything that is advertised as free in America, comes at some cost.

Remember, Craigslist has also been associated with being used to solicit acts of Prostitution.

LOL, so what? If people are dumb enough to meet up for sex w/someone from a craigslist personal listing, that's their problem. Have you gone on the personals section of craigslist? It's hilarious! I wouldn't be caught dead meeting someone on there. But I do know someone who met their now fiancee on craigslist. Do you know how many random acts of violence that occur in just one city that have no connection w/craigslist whatsoever? So are you in favor of banning that site?

NO to Censorship....People can use all kinds of media to get info on other people to commit crimes. We cannot afford to ban all of these types of media, less we run the risk of becoming a totalitarian state. That is something I could do without......
