Gee, will this get the DOJ after him? After all, its the Feds job to do it and the states shouldn't interfere. (Wasn't this the argument why Arizona couldn't pass their immigration law?)

You are right. So they are studying the impact.

Maybe the President could have gotten the Corps involved a little sooner ?
Afterall he is the President and one phone call would have gotten the Corps involved a lot sooner than now.

I watched Jindal's press conference on CNN, and I have to give him credit. He demonstrated the kind of knowledge, commitment and leadership on this disaster that has been missing from President Obama.

It pains me to say that, but it's the truth.

Get them involved in what? The sandbar is a new idea, so how can you get involved in something no one has even suggested? Just because Jindal decided yesterday that building a sand bar is a great idea, doesn't mean it is a great idea, or even a realistic one?

Umm, they've been talking about the sand bar for weeks now all over our local news here in south Louisiana.

Did the federal government tell him NOT to?

Here is a link and quote from a local news story on the topic
Oil Spill Latest - KLFY TV 10 - Acadiana's Local News, Weather and Sports Leader |
Meanwhile, frustrated local and state officials were also waiting for the Army Corps of Engineers to issue permits so they can build sand berms in front of islands and wetlands to act as buffers between the advancing oil and the wetlands.
In a statement, corps spokesman Ken Holder said officials understand the urgency, but possible environmental effects must be evaluated before even an emergency permit can be issued.
