Why do people try and pretend like people bash Palin because she is a woman? They (me included) bash her because she is a total idiot and exposed con-artist. She QUIT her last job because it was hard. Now she's morphing into a fake feminist and traveling non-substanative mouthpiece. It's just pathetic.

I have talked to Palin twice. Both times she impressed me as being very sincere. She has a great amount of balance and energy that just doesn't come though on TV.

I can not see her being president. I means no disrespect to her at all.

In fact it is a compliment. IMO, she is doing a great service by keeping some issues in the news.

I do not agree with her 100%. I can not think of anyone I do agree with 100%.

"Just as consumer culture tries to sell 'Girls Gone Wild'-style sexism as 'empowerment,' conservatives are trying to sell anti-women policies shrouded in pro-women rhetoric."

"What Palin is peddling isn't feminism -- it's a manipulated buzzword being used to garner support for a party that time and time again votes against women's rights. Palin isn't trying to further a movement for justice or equality; she's shilling for women's votes -- a 'stampede of pink elephants,' she says -- for the midterm elections."

At the same time, though, what used to be known as the women's movement has been moribund for thirty years. Like the dead tree it became, it deserves to be trashified and eaten away by termites such as the swarm led by Sarah Palin.

Then maybe a new one can start.

That's always the problem with propaganda, people can label themselves and their ideas anything they want. Even if their goal is actually the complete opposite, which is hilarious to watch the people following them. People seem to just follow words, instead of looking at people's actions.

Just look at Phyllis Schlafly, who is somehow labelling herself and her ideas and pro-woman and pro-family. Even though she extols the values of taking away a womans right to vote, allowing marital rape, and discrimination of woman...which she wouldn't be able to champion for if she didn't have any of these rights.

When people don't think critically about what they are cheering for, this will happen. This kind of mental laziness is the problem with many things. When you point it out to people they would rather attack the person who points it out, then actually even entertain the thought they might have been mistaken.

This is so true, and people know to exploit that.

I would honestly like to be able to like Palin, but her tabloid fodder personality really prevents that as does her inherent propensity for "spin" and childish revenge exacted through profession. The woman is maniacal and narcissitic. I watch what she is doing largely because her following is equally maniacal and crazed, and appears to be a security risk for the entire nation. How a multi miliionaire Alaskan female politician has duped scores of hillbillies and Average Joes into believing that she is "on their side" is truly a tabloid miracle in itself. Disgusting to boot.

Ironically, Schlafly didn't listen to her own advice and become strictly a homemaker - she became an attorney and political activist, which her own propaganda claims that women shouldn't do and instead focus on "kinder, kuche, und kirche" as the Germans used to say. (children, family, church)

This is typical of most "family values" type female activists and politicians. They give advice that is completely contrary to the way they lived their lives and live their lives. The only one I can think of in ANY country in the world who actually lived up to her rhetoric about "a woman's place in the home" - and only temporarily - was Italian parliamentarian Sandra Mussolini (granddaughter of you-know-who), who retired from politics because she felt her first duty was being a wife and mother. Of course, she couldn't handle being out of the spotlight, and when the next election took place she ran for office again and returned to Italy's Parliament. (Sandra in many ways was the Italian prototype for Sarah Palin, except for Palin not having a fascist dictator for a grandfather and a legendary movie star as an aunt.)
