This guy sure as hell is pissed off after Obama cut the space program.
The Obama administration increased NASA's budget.
The decision to retire the Shuttle was made years ago - and rightly so, in my admittedly layman opinion. They were designed in the 1970s and never lived up to expectations.
Ares-I was solidly parked in the "throwing-good-money-after-bad" stage of the project - with enough funding, it could have been turned into an expensive, mediocre rocket. Canceling was painful, but probably the better solution.
And if this guy is annoyed with the fate of the ISS, he's barking up the wrong tree - as the old plan was to deorbit it in 2016, to finance the oh-so-important manned Moon mission.
Im sure the conservatards are happy that we are cutting the space program.
Space exploration is one area that I would definitely not cut. We have been leaders in this field and are just giving that away now. This shouldn't even be a political issue. So much of our current technology has come from space-related experiments and discoveries. We cannot afford to lose this edge.

The rest seemed a little unfocused.
This says so much. I hope people read it before posting an ignorant, insulting rant against Obama. But I doubt it.

The actual US edge is in robotic probes rather than in manned launches to LEO - Russia does that cheaper and with a comparable safety record. The US excels in stuff like the Hubble, the Mars Rovers etc. - nobody comes close. And funding for this work remains.
Sending people into orbit has been done for five decades or so, there's not much of an edge to it. Incidentally, this is not the first time the US has had an interlude with no manned capacity - there was a considerable gap between Apollo and the Shuttle, to say nothing of the Shuttle being grounded after Challenger and Columbia. If it becomes a matter of national urgency for whatever reason, Atlas-V and Delta-IV are both capable lifters - not, technically speaking, man-rated, but reliable enough in a pinch.
Some maintain that it's already too late to extend the Shuttle's life - parts of the supply chain have shut down already.
I've been searching for an answer as to WHO it is people want to take the government "back from"..Please advise.
The oppressive left-wing dingbats, that's who.
