It's easy to be a good president when there are no big challenges, and when your term was so long ago people only 'remember' the good things about you.

Really? No kidding. I mean I do live in one of the original colonies, but wow thanks for enlightening me.

He was president though, not of the United States of America, but rather of the United Colonies, as elected by the Continental Congress. Washington was the first president under the Constitution.

Someone named John Hanson was the first president under the Articles of Confedertation. Which predates the Constitution by 5 years.

So, nope you should go learn your history.
Lets have a little history lesson right here.

The 2nd Continental Congress, was in charge of the Revolution and they were responsible for the writing of the Articles of Confederation. The Articles went into effect for those 13 states in 1781 and were in force till 1789 when the Constitution was finally ratified by a sufficient number of states. Now I know that math may be involved here but it appears to me that the Articles precede the Constitution by about 8 years not the 5 you mentioned.

I don't know where you hurriedly looked up your information but I get mine from a number of years of studying the Constitutional period.

BTW, I surely did vote for "another" since Washington and Truman weren't included in the short group.

To give credit where due, for all the economic misery created during his first and only term, unemployment actually declined slightly, but these jobs came at a great price in terms of run-away inflation, sky-high interest rates and overall economic stagnation. After all the damage caused by Carter and his weak dollar policy, Reagan restored the USD and the economy.

Some have forgotten how bad the effects of Carters weak dollar policy were for ordinary Americans or the way Reagan's strong dollar reform eased the misery imposed on the public. Others have tried to rewite history. This is what we thought of Carternomics (stagflation) back in the day.

that is just to hard to answer although I did vote. Too many of those generations ago didn't face the same problems our country is facing today. In fact they are probably rolling over in their graves about now.

In my opinion, some on the list could never going down as outstanding or really bad, Clinton for one. We have no idea how good Presidents like Washington and Lincoln really were as we can only depend on what we read.

I would have to say, in my lifetime, FDR and Reagan have made the most impression on our country. Much of what FDR did may have backfired, but at the time, he did get the country out of a terrible dissaster. Reagan made people proud and patriotic again. I don't know why, but the atmosphere was more positive in the 80s. Maybe it had to do with the nightmere Pres before him. Maybe it had something to do with his just being liked by the public, whether he was a good Pres or not, he was a popular person.

Of course, that was 200 years ago. There could be around 8 generations since then, which means if her descendants only married whites during that entire time. Then her most recent descendants would only be 1/1024th black. Might be tough to spot you in a crowd.
1/1024th black???? What's that called...a macaroon????

So what you are saying is if we lost WWII, you would be here trying to justify Japanese internment? And that damned habeas corpus, who needs it right??
