Boynton Beach vs. Melbourne
I've lived in both places. I lived and worked in Melbourne for a year and a half from 2005-mid 2006 (which included work in Sebastian). I now live in Broward County, but I work in the Boynton Beach area.
I will say I'd opt for Boynton Beach. You'd be moving into a metropolitan area. And will be close to Ft.Lauderdale-Miami, where there are more entertainment/cultural options (along with more traffic and your share of rude people and crime. But, hey, it's a give and take).
Melbourne was a bit too slow-paced for me. And, so, Sebastian is even slower. It's a nice fishing town and many South Floridians have opted to make the move up there. If working in Melbourne, I'd not suggest living in Sebastian, unless you enjoy a daily 35-40 mile commute on I-95.
Now, I'm originally from Miami, so moving to Melbourne was a total culture shock and I was often bored. But, I'd also mention I was in my mid 20's and I'd travel back home for the weekends very often.
It's a tough call. Good luck.

I grew up on Long Island and currently live in NYC. I was recently in Vero/Sebastian as well as Stuart and PSL looking at houses with my parents. I have to tell you, Vero by far is the nicest of the three. Sebastian is a little further north and not as nice, but Vero is special. We flew in and out of Palm Beach and drove through it a little. Nothing ti get excited about unless you're over the bridge on the island. That's where the money is. Everything else was just the same old flat, paved Florida scenery. Nothing to look at really. And don't get me wrong, Vero has a lot of that too, but it had a nicer feel to it. And it also has great shopping and beautiful beaches. Their exclusive area over the bridges is a lot more welcoming. Upscale but not overly so. Nice shops/restaurants/etc. and great access to the beaches which as I said were beautiful. Not crowded and seedy like others in Florida.

Sebastian - Vero
We looked up that way and still may relocate there when we retire. Well, not retire but after a certain age. St. Auggie is another great, more mellow town. Good choices. Enjoy!

VERO BEACH. WPB is a crime riddeen dump. Look at the crime rates on this link. Sebastian is nice, but I liked Vero when I lived there.
