Are there any web sites which will tell me the following information with respect to a given development?
Total number of planned homes
Total number of homes built
Active development (currently building)
Number of homes for sale/short sale/foreclosure
Just trying to learn as much as I can as my wife and I pursue our goal to move down.

If you are trying to find those statistics on a specific subdivision, I doubt all those details would be available online. You can get some idea on the current estimated values of a neighborhood's homes, and which ones are listed as in foreclosure, by going to zillow.com, entering an address within a community, and then checking the aerial map provided - it will show their estimates of each house, with color-coding for those currently in foreclosure and/or for sale. Zillow's estimates are kind of all-over-the-place, but at least it's a starting point for getting an idea about a specific community.

I have found the website Trulia to be very helpful for "Do it yourselfers".

What's great about Trulia is when you are driving around looking, the site continually updates for the area you are currently riding around in...makes it easy if you are out for the day and see something you like...

Trulia is also not accurate on estimated values but by 60% -- and many times a house is already in contract but that does not reflect on their list....or most people dont read that part since it still shows active.
