We are taking a New England/Canada cruise in September and are curious as to what sites to see. The mail cruise was recommended, as was touring Acadia National Park. As locals, what do you recommend and where would you take visitors? What do you consider the must see places?

I also collect art work; and while I do plan to take my own pictures, I would like to visit a nice gallery. I also want a good lobster dinner.

Thanks for any replies. We are trying to keep our expenses down and are deciding whether to take the excursions offered by the cruise line or just go out on our own. I have no desire to tour Kennebunkport since we were married there and have seen the entire area as well as Freeport and LL Bean.

We'll, don't miss the Sunset Bar and Grill. When those Air France 747's . . . oh, wait . . . you need to talk to people that have actually done the cruise, not us local yokels (I'm a local yokel around the Anegada Passage as well).

I am going to miss the Sunset and those great plane landings, but DH wants to do this cruise. Since I am a Philly girl, I always have places that people should definitely see while in Philly; so, I thought someone from Portland could make better recommendations than those on a cruise. However, I will post on the cruise forum. Thanks.
