In Pittsburgh, newly minted Physical Therapists will make around 55k. How does that compare to Portland and also to areas surrounding Portland as well as those well outside Portland? My internet research has brought up different figures, and I don't trust them.

Also, there are Portland apartments for 600 and up. Are the 600USD ones crack shacks or livable?

You may try salary.com or salaries.com - don't remember exactly.

I can't attest to how accurate it is, but it may give you a jumping off point.

Portland apt's......Maine doesn't have as bad as a crime problem as most other cities....that being said...$600.00 will probably not get you what you want. Based soley on your profession alone (your educated, good job, ect)..A decent standard 2br 1ba will probably cost more like $900 and you pay the heat..or $1100-$1200 heat included. I am sure this is all debatable.....but thats been my experience.

I have no idea what they make....I'd call a couple of reahbilitation service providers on the phone and just ask them...They would probably just tell you what they pay their own PT's. Maine is a poor state...but even still i'd think comapred with its cost of living you could do well here.

Good luck

I'm a big fan of physical therapists. I had a full right shoulder tear just over 3 years ago. I had it rebuilt and I now have 100% range of motion, pain free. I can put my arm straight up beside my ear, reach down and scratch my neck on the opposite side. I would not have been able to do that without my physical therapist miracle lady. It wasn't easy and I would not have known how without her.

Absolutely! My brother is going 3 times a week right now and is slowly regaining movement in his wrist. PT knows he doesn't have the insurance coverage, but refuses to take anything right now, and will not hear of him dropping back to once or twice a week instead. According to him, the PT just told him, "We, meaning you and I, don't worry about a bill. We worry about getting you back as far as we can."

I know a physician in Maine who "goes bareback". That's what Docs call it when a physician has no malpractice insurance. He treats quides, loggers, and pilots mostly. He treats their familes too. That's a fairly good sized patient load. Everybody knows that Doc is taking a risk. Somebody spoke about the poossibility that Doc could get sued. A logger simply replied. "If anybody sues Doc we'll just drown him."

There really is an underground society here to go along with the underground economy.

Got seeds? I bought two cucumbers today for 99 cents each. As fuel goes up, everything else will go up. I look for some seed companies to run out of favorite varieties.
