It really really ticks me off when they're purposely sneaky about it. Like putting CASH in 8 point font along with REGULAR MEDIUM PREMIUM lettering that people with reasonable vision can't see form a reasonable distance.

Huge difference really annoys me too. This gas station in Hollywood area near Fred Meyer at Broadway & NE 25th charges like 15 cents more per gallon on credit.

Those credit card charges don't come cheap for a gas station operator. Think of it another way: cash buyers are paying for credit cards they don't use.

I wouldn't care if the fine didn't apply to debit cards too, but often they're painted with the same brush. Punishing people who are spending their own real holdings, but doing it in a way that's easier to track for personal finances and cheaper for the whole country and better for the environment (cash is pretty stupid when you don't absolutely need it) seems really lame and sort of un-Portlandish.

Banks charge the merchant a fee for debit cards as well - used to be far less than those charged for credit cards, but I think now the charge is the same...

I should have a fair chance to make my choice.
If it says CASH as big as the numbers, then fine. What really ticks me off is baiting tactic that uses intentionally small lettering.

Me too. I hate small print to begin with, but to combine small print with trying to read it while you're driving.. that's just not fair!

Sorry to ask a question in someone else's thread but this is gas related. Do people from Washington especially the close areas like Vancouver, WA usually get gas in Portland because the taxes and thus gas are cheaper?

Just think about how much cheaper gas would be if the owner didnt have to pay the "trained professional" to pump the gas....

sure wish this state would eliminate that useless law... complete waste of time, more annoying than the high prices, IMO.
