Is there a place out here in the US, that's like Portland, not exactly the same of course, since it wouldn't be Portland, but close to it. Portland would be the perfect place for me to move to...if it didn't rain so much there. Any place like it, but it's sunny? Thanks for your help!

Hmm ... if you're looking for like Portland but sunny ... maybe Denver? I wouldn't go so far as to say its like Portland, but it is perhaps the most historically "urban" cities in the Rocky Mountain West (i.e. with nice historic neighborhoods), and since the 1990s has reinvented itself as an up-and-coming city, a destination for young professionals, a western city implementing progressive policies on transit, etc. People also mention Austin, TX. What about Oakland, CA? Perhaps some cities in the Southeast US (Savannah?), I don't know. Rumour is Victoria, BC is one of the "sunniest" places in the Pacific NW.

One that comes up as being very similar to Portland is Pittsburgh. But that isn't sunny (perhaps marginally sunnier in winter as the cloudiness tends to be spread out throughout the year.)

If you're going for smaller cities, many college towns (Chico, Fort Collins, Boise, Santa Rosa), or cities like Bend might fit the bill.

Any such place would have a population of over 4 million, twice what Portland has. And all that implies with traffic, roads, schools, suburbs, commuting, trash & landfills, and so on.

Well, it may not be as hip and trendy as Portland, but it has its 'crunchy, artsy, cafe' side: Sedona, AZ. And it is gorgeous year-round. It has four seasons, but the winter is mild and the summer does not get as hot as it does in "The Valley of The Sun". And, while I have not been there in years, I hear life can be quite pleasant in Prescott, AZ.

Why? Salt Lake has a nice core downtown area with plenty of attractions. parks and places to eat. It's a major metropoliton area. There's plenty of outdoor recreation minutes away. (fishing, skiing, water sports, camping, hiking). It's a beautiful environment.

The OP said they want Portland with Sun.
