Are you thinking of Old Town? Drunken brawlers in the Pearl District? Where was this, outside of Henry's or Life of Riley's? Because those sort of bars are rare in the Pearl.

Oh so sorry Steve, confused since you rant about so much yet often make mistakes. And yes, the Pearl is just full of drunken brawlers and puking youth. Not.

Sorry but Old Town is part of the Pearl and the streets were full of puking wannabe adults and rabble rousers and carousers.

Here is the official description "The area is located just north of downtown between West Burnside Street on the south, the Willamette River on the north, NW Broadway on the east and the Interstate 405 freeway on the west." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_D...rtland,_Oregon

You must be thinking about "Old Town China Town" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Tow...rtland,_Oregon

Those are called Beaverton kids who funnel into downtown to go drinking and partying.

Yet, that's not quite true, or at least you aren't paying attention. Notice the Broadway part? Most of the "drunken behavior" is not in the Pearl boundaries it's in Old Town.

Old Town is in the Northwest section of Portland, Oregon. The Willamette River forms its eastern boundary, separating it from the Lloyd District and the Kerns and Buckman neighborhoods. It includes the Portland Skidmore/Old Town Historic District and the Portland New Chinatown/Japantown Historic District, which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In the Northwest section, NW Broadway forms the western boundary, separating it from the Pearl District, and W Burnside St. forms the southern boundary, separating it from Downtown Portland. In the Southwest section, the neighborhood extends from SW 3rd Ave. east to the river and from SW Stark St. north to W Burnside St. (with the exception of areas south of SW Pine St. and west of SW 2nd Ave, and south of SW Oak St. and west of SW 1st Ave., which are part of Downtown).

Steve, Old Town is not a part of the Pearl. The divide is basically Broadway, if you are east of Broadway you are in Old Town/Chinatown, not the Pearl District. Though I am sure plenty of people wish they could turn it into Pearl East.

Yes, they do wish they could. Just like you'll see places in NW that are described as the Pearl district when they're on 17th, 18th or 19th. Anything west of 405 is not the Pearl but they sure try to charge like it is.

I never went past Broadway. My personal observation was west of Broadway. And that part of the Pearl is still called Old Town although the division is Broadway. I agree they may be Beaverton immoral's infiltrating the Pearl and shunning the New OLD Town China Town, for the more upscale digs west of Broadway. The drunks puking by the restaurant appeared to be Nuavo Hippies.

West of Broadway is the Pearl District, not Old Town/Chinatown.

It is not part of the Pearl, Steve, no matter what you want to claim. I always love how you, who doesn't live here, claim to know so much more than people who actually do. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you don't.

Try this map of neighborhoods if you want to be educated: http://www.pdx.edu/sites/www.pdx.edu.../PDX_Hoods.jpg
