Specifically Bayberry Heights on Cooper Mtn?
How's the commute to the airport? Weather more rainy than say McMinnville?
This house has great bones but not sure why it's so cheap?

If you regularly have to go to the Portland airport, it would not be good. If you're at the Hillsboro airport, that's a different story.

That's not terribly far from me. Previous comment about the airport is correct: hell to PDX, not bad at all to Hillsboro's. The weather is probably similar to McMinnville.

Aloha is a comfortable non-suburb (since it is not actually a city at all, just the stretch of unincorporated Washington County between Beaverton and Hillsboro). I haven't seen too many highs or lows.

We lived on Cooper Mountain (off of SW 185th and Rigert) for 5 years and liked the area. My husband did a lot of travelling for work and found the commute to PDX got progressively worse over the years we lived there (we moved in 2008). We occasionally drive out that way and have noticed that the traffic is much heavier than it was so I imagine the commute would be long and unpleasant. There has been a lot of new development and the restaurant/shopping scene has improved. There is also a nice little library in the area now.

Will you have kids in school? If so, you would be wise to pay the local schools a visit. We only had direct experience with Hazeldale and it was okay at the time. The teachers and staff were good and there were many devoted parents involved which made a positive difference. I've heard that it tapers off a lot at the middle and high school levels and that Mt. View and Aloha HS are not so great. Something to consider...

All in all it was a nice, family friendly area but perhaps not the best if you need to drive over to the east side and/or airport frequently.

Aloha gets a bit of a bad rap, but it's definitely not the first place I'd look if I was throwing down half a million. Seems a bit of an odd-compromise to get a high dollar house. Esp. if going to the airport with any regularity I'd likely take Happy Valley/Vancouver/Camas/Gresham over Aloha.

As others have noted, it's not the best drive to PDX, especially weekday afternoons. It's quite doable to take Blue->Red MAX to the airport, though that's not super speedy either, and a pain if you've got anything more sizable than carry-on luggage.

7653 Sw 195th Pl, Aloha, OR 97007 - Home For Sale and Real Estate Listing - realtor.com®
The house is that cheap because it's not in one of the more desirable Westside locations, the schools aren't that great, the house is relatively old and has had very little updating done besides kitchen appliances and countertops. The house virtually screams 80's from every room including the backyard with that green hot tub, which is not what most people want if they can afford better.

I would not want to regularly have to commute to PDX airport from that location unless it was always before 6 am or after 9pm. Otherwise, there's a lot better areas to choose from for a good commute to the airport.

Weather would not be noticeably different than McMinnville's weather.

Aloha is part of Beaverton School District.

it's not a bad area and the post office is right there off 185th.

McMinville is further south in Yamhill county
