A couple I had my eye on. First a little over budget and second backs to a busy road.

Since I set up utility services for new owners and renters, I happen to know that not all transplants are Californians. Many come from back east, too (all over, really). And here's something that will shock many people on here: More people move TO California than you'd think.

My wife seems to think Portland being "cool" and OR being beautiful and being closer to family trumps the former. I know OR is beautiful but this infatuation with Portland is downright stupidity!!! Especially for young people. We won't have to worry about finding jobs, incomes, etc. But the economy in the twin cities is 10x better with major Fortune 500 companies. Some of best schools in the country and a larger number of higher educational institutions per capita than most places. Sure the cities aren't as "hip" or cool as Portland but who cares???? Most 30 year olds like us could care less and don't even spend much time these days trying to be "hip" and having fun! We are too busy working, saving for retirement, raising kids etc. Even the outdoors is hard to find time to enjoy when you are a young family. Seems to me the people who fit best in OR are retirees or irresponsible young hipsters!

Oh the weather? Ok fine OR summers are beautiful so what? It's going to be 100 in Portland next Sunday and summer hasn't even begun? No humudity? lol 100 is 100 is 100!!!
Just what pdx needs, another griper. Well i guess we know who runs the show in this family! Lol... is this the same guy who didnt want to run the family winery? Oh and oregonians will love your idea to bundyize their public lands...

You seem to have temperature and humidity confused. Just because the temperature is going to be 100 doesn't mean it will also be 100% humidity.

This doesn't mean diddly-squat. It would be no surprise that, in spite of 100's spurts, we could still end up with more rain during summer than you'd like, although there is less of it than there used to be.

was to live in acreage. In most of the nicer areas like Beaverton that is impossible at that price range. That's what's so crazy about OR. So much land but only so much being used for growth and development.
Compact cities, protecting farmland for the future, farms within 20 miles of the metro providing the city with agricultural goods without the need to truck them in from 200 miles away... I'm not seeing the downside.

On the other hand I'm glad you have C-D as your complaint outlet, clearly because your other half is probably tired of listening to it. Feel free to continue to vent here and spare your family.

HAHA! I complained a lot when I first moved here. Took several years to let Oregon in to my heart. I have a feeling the OP is going to really have a hard time as I actually wanted to move here. It will be a LONG winter.

Though I do believe they said on the radio this morning the humidity level was 96% (at 6:30) though it may have been 97. Didn't feel humid to me, but I also wasn't exactly fully awake either.

My friend and I have been amusing ourselves with a license plate scavenger hunt. Since we started about a year ago, we have found 49 of the 50 states, D.C., 4 Canadian provinces, and 5 other foreign countries - all without leaving the Portland Metro area.

Since I'm paying attention to them, I see more cars from CO than anywhere else.

Washington is becoming the same way and has been for decades. Most notice the steady decline as the influx of liberals and illegals has ruined formerly nice areas. I own a few properties in the area and am enjoying the uptick in prices, however; no way I want to live in this liberal cesspool of illegal lovers much longer.
