Townhall meeting went favorable for chickens and rabbits. Only one issue was brought up about cleanliness and how to properly take care of your animals by one council member but is in favor. Mayor said 10 chickens are a fair amount no matter the lot size in PV, no permits or licenses required. HOAs will get the word from the town when the ordinances take affect and they can decide for those specific communities. He wants to take a hands off approach and let people decide what's best for them. Staff members will come up with design of coop size, setbacks and building dimensions. Will come to a final vote in the coming future, which is likely to pass unanimously.

Thirty-seven percent of respondents said the number of chickens or rabbits should be limited to four to six; with 32 percent saying the allowed number should be 10 -12. Great news!

'PV COUNCIL APPROVES ORDINANCE FOR CHICKENS/RABBITS ON RESIDENTIAL LOTS
Prescott Valley Town Council on Thursday night approved an updated Town Code that will allow chickens and domestic rabbits on residential lots within Town limits.
On February 23, 2023, the Council heard the results of a citizen survey regarding the keeping of chickens and rabbits within the corporate limits of Prescott Valley. Those results indicated overwhelming support for keeping chickens and rabbits, and Council directed staff to bring back necessary Town Code modifications.
The amendment updates Chapter 6 “Animals“ in the Town Code to allow up to 10 each of chickens and/or domestic rabbits on any residential lot without license requirement; and allows construction of chicken coops and domestic rabbit hutches without building or zoning permits, unless the hutches are equipped with electrical, mechanical, or plumbing fixtures.
The amendment prohibits roosters and also requires a setback for coops or hutches of at least one foot from property or easement lines, whichever is furthest from adjacent structures.
Additionally, any chicken coop or rabbit hutch later converted to other uses would become an “Accessory Building” and would need to comply with those requirements.
The Council approved and read the amended Ordinance No. 2023-919 during the meeting, and the second reading and adoption will take place during the regular meeting on April 13, 2023.'

Also from the grapevine among HOAs, Granville residents are allowed to have chickens from what the mayor said during city council meeting. Hopefully more HOAs such as Jasper, Pronghorn Ranch, Viewpoint and Stoneridge will follow suit.

I can see the headline now: German shepherd in Granville eats chickens that got loose from neighbors' yard.

Highly doubt this will happen, if rarely. You hardly hear about it in the local news in Prescott or Chino Valley where its been legal for a long time.
