What's with all the negative stories on The Daily Courier lately reporting on people doing criminal and shady activities? Anybody think this news source is giving both cities a bad image? I realize every small town, to large city has criminals, however some of these people look really trashy and uneducated. Does this hurt the overall potential of the area from growing and larger companies to relocate jobs to the area when they see this sort of stuff? We all agree, we want the best out of our communities and want it to be a successful place for everybody.

Maybe there are better news outlets that has more positive current events. What should be recommended?

I think the courier just wants to be relevant. Buzz is the keyword. The national Enquirer comes to mind. Get everyone all riled up about trivial matters.

Local newspapers ( and MSM in general ) are a dying industry. They have lost their ability to influence people and no one wants to be irrelevant.

To late. The train has left the station.

It will be interesting to see how their digital subscription works out. A free Internet- based equivalent will pop up and "borrow" snippets of their material.

The new mantra is TL;DR (Too long; Didn't read)

Actually, when I think of Prescott, I remember the Jim Carey movie "The Truman show" or "Pleasantville"and chuckle so I don't think they have any affect at all.

It's probably less of a "shock" to the natives who were born and raised in Prescott, and more of a shock to the transplants who thought they were moving to "Mayberry".

Except for "Mayberry" I don't think anyone can expect to find "Mayberry" anywhere?
