Dwight Freeny signed a 6 year contract with the Colts today worth more than 70 million bucks. I love Dwight, he's a great player and I like the Colts but for that position, is he worth that kind of money? I think it's the richest contract for a defensive player, It's QB money, what do you guys think?
Hard to get too excited about NFL contracts simply because they're not guaranteed. Generally the player gets a certain signing bonus up front and then his yearly stipend, but the team can cut him at any time and the contract is done.
I think thqat most pros get to much money but yes that is way to much for that position. He will probabaly not get a whole lot of sacks either. Teams double him up on the line then hit him with a back before he can get to the QB. He is awesome and will probably end up being one of the greatest of all time but that is a lot of money.
I agree with you. It's especially too much money since they really need a middle Linebacker. We'll see how their defense plays, I guess.
