It happens. Terrell Davis was a 6th round pick, Shannon Sharpe went in the 7th round, and Denver's all-time leading receiver, Rod Smith, was an undrafted free agent.

I think Joe Montana was either a 3rd or 4th round draft pick. Albert Morris of the Redskins is a sixth round pick and so far he's been outstanding.

Bart Starr- drafted in the 17th round in the 1956 draft by Green Bay.

Johnny Unitas- drafted in the 9th round in the 1955 draft by Baltimore.

Roger Staubach- drafted in the 10th round in the 1964 draft by Dallas.

Johnny Unitas was drafted by his home town team: The Pittsburgh Steelers, who in the fifties, were FAMOUS for the quarterbacks they let get away.
And yes, Dallas drafted Staubach but they knew he had his Naval career to serve but their gamble served them well when he finally joined the team.
