Did anyone attend The Perfect Season Parade? I've been reading about it this morning and I applaud the Browns fans that can protest and find some humor in their misery. It's apparent that some Browns players and fans took this too seriously slamming paraders as "not true fans". Real fans don't always where rose tinted glasses. Real fans can lampoon their team too.
No matter how good the Browns do in the upcoming draft, it will still be a steep upward climb this coming season. The Browns are tied for 5th for the strength of schedule. No real surprise though.
Just looking at 5 picks in the first 2 rounds of the draft. I doubt that the Browns have no new long term plan, even under new management, but if I ran the team, i have ideas
Of course , i would have done last years different too
I hopevthey can bring some sense of success back to this classic franchise.
A.J. McCarron has been granted unrestricted free agency after winning a grievance with the Bengals. Considering that Hue Jackson is still the coach and reportedly wanted McCarron at the trade deadline, I think the Browns could look into signing him. It is tough to think about what it might take, though. I don't think he's as bad as Mike Glennon but I also don't think he's as good as Garoppolo.
Would Jackson dare convince ownership to sign McCarron to be the Browns' starting QB and then use the #1 pick and #4 pick on non-QBs?

I think part of the problem is that they lack enough scouting insight to be able to evaluate talent in the draft. Like so many teams, they blindly follow what the media suggests are the best players, not realizing that the best athletes are the ones who work one on one with the coaches, not the press !
Also, reading the mock drafts is entertaining, but about as accurate as mid page stories in the New York Post, contributed by the publishers of The Onion.
I won't say who and when the team should draft, I don't think they even know ! but with 6 of the first 65 picks, and this years draft having enough talent to fill those slots, perhaps they need to focus on one side of the ball first. If they do not draft QB first, then RB , OT, WR LB , CB then Backup QB at 66 or a guard,
Perhaps by going into rounds 4 they can start to pick up a speedy WR for depth, depth in the defensive backfield
But whatever they choose, I cannot stress enough that ANY business must have a business plan and stick with it up and down.
DO the Browns have such a plan ?
