I would put money on the Steelers winning a seventh before the Pats winning their fourth.

Seriously if you feel that way, thats cool but the model of consistensy New England has displayed one of the best in the NFL. Indy is right up there as well.
I think the New England D is starting to age. It has to kill the fans, last year 1 minute from a perfect season. This year, 11-5, and not invited to the dance. You could make an argument for them winning the last two SBs.

Here is the biggest misconception I have heard. The New England D id getting old. All defenses are getting older and so is ours, but in reality we are not that old. Our front 3 is fairly young. Seymour, Wilfork and Ty Warren and Jarvis Green are all fairly young. The Linebackers are in fact old, however defensive rookie of the year Jerrod Mayo, Gary Guyton and Adalius Thomas are both young and they drafted Crable last year but he was hurt early. The secondary is all young. Meariweather, Wihite, Hobbs, Wheatley. At the end of the year they were too young in fact to really do much. They will draft well as they always do and add a few free agents and be right back in the hunt.
PS - I hate Mercury Morris more than I can put into words. LOL
a steeler win means 100s of millions of NFL Steelers Merchandise around the nation, A card win, Im sorry to say, is a rather pathetic monetary gain. The NFL, like any other business, needs to stay in business and grow. These superbowls are Gold mines.

The NFL may move more merch; actually they will/did move more merch, with the Steelers winning. However, it is laughable to think the NFL desperately wanted the Steelers to win for business growth.

I think you need to do some research and see where the Steelers rank in "consistensy". You will see that they are the MOST successful team in the AFC.

11-5, they also had one of the EASIEST schedules in the NFL.

YOu will not find a business out there that doesn't make its choices based on what will bring in more revenue, last time I checked, the NFL is not a "non for profit organization" Revenue from sales of Merchandise is the largest form of income for the NFL, second is the TV contracts. How can you sit there and tell me that in 2008/2009, a time of the greatest Recession since the Great Depression, that a company or corporation isn't concerned about where the money is going to come from. First of all, merchandise revenue is not the leading source of revenue for the NFL; their television contracts are, and by a wide margin. (1)
I didn't say the NFL was not concerned about its revenue; I said it was laughable to suggest they were openly rooting for the Steelers in order to make more money. If the NFL openly rooted for teams that sell more merch; the Raiders and Cowboys would also be getting quite the "pat on the back" from the NFL. Also, despite the current economic issues; the Super Bowl still brought in over 260 million in total ad sales. The NFL is not exactly hurting for cash.
If you explain to me the price elasticity of ticket demand, I will take you up on your suggestion.
